Not news but i thought some of you might like to read it :- A Mallorcan Christmas Tradition | Mallorca Observed
.
Provide or get advice on everything Puerto Pollensa, ask questions, gain confirmation or just become apart of a friendly, like minded community.
Yes i read it too but yesterday was the "fiesta de los locos"here in Spain, this is the Spanish equivalent to April Fools Day, so i think it was a prank.
You can see the story here :- Comer de Pollena
Comer de Pollena
My Spanish is pretty poor but is this suggesting a tunnel be built between Pollensa and somewhere and that a tram service be established between pollensa, Cala and the port
Also is this just an idea or does it have any substance?
British expatriates face shock taxes on homes in Spain.
British owners of homes in Spain may be hit with retrospective tax bills if the authorities decide they paid too little for their property.
The Spanish government is re-examining the sale of tens of thousands of homes that have taken place over the last four years.
The Impuesto de Transmisiones Patrimoniales (ITP) is Spain’s equivalent of Stamp Duty, and applies only to the resale of houses: new-builds are exempt. It amounts to a percentage of the value of the house, which from region to region but averages around eight percent.
Now, though, the tax authorities are suspicious that some properties may deliberately have been sold at less than the going rate - and plan to recoup the tax they believe they have missed.

Yesterday afternoon the road that leads up to Formentor has been closed to traffic due to a truck that has been entravessat to a curve while descending from Formentor.
The closure has lasted from 18: 00 until 20: 30 hours until a crane was unable to remove the truck from the Mount Pelée/Saint and this could continue on its way. The local police and the civil guard traffic has closed the access to the road from Formentor while performing the work to remove the truck.
Now the movement is already open.

In this sense, the first deputy mayor and councilor of the Department of Services, Martí Roca (PI), explained that the actions have already been launched in some of the streets that are in worse condition and said that the roads where You perform works "were selected based on reports from the engineer and the local police."
The asphalt works have been started in Pollença, specifically in the area of the institute Guillem Encrypt, because "it is the area where most problems are detected because there circulate many motorcycles and bicycles," said the mayor Roca.
In the town of Pollença, upcoming works will be executed in the streets Cecili Metel, l'Horta, Mother Alberta, Moro, Ramon Pico and CAMPAMAR. Also act in the most central streets leading to the Plaça Major such as Reina Maria Argentina, Munar, Pio XI and Angels. Will conclude with the streets Canonge Alzamora, Coronel Aloi, Frai Juníper Serra, Sea, Mercat and a stretch of Pare Vives.
