Hi Folks, Just got back yesterday after a 10 day stay to see the local 3 day festival. Went in the new o'lume and i have to say jamie has got it spot on at last. I was never keen on the old place not because of the food but purely down to atmosphere. However that is now a thing of the past.I wont mention what was eaten as other folk on here do that far better. Suffice to say it was perfection. The point of the post is to say this new place is superb. The decor is great and you can here the music without needing an ear trumpet. In his first month he has had to turn people away twice beacause the place was packed. I predict in the season you will need to book to get a table.:)

This is really great news - we did like the food at the old O'Lume but I am never comfortable being at the sole (or almost sole) occupied table - makes me come over all self-conscious... If he's now pulling in the crowds I suspect this restaurant could very quickly become THE place to go in the port - certainly for us, at any rate!

Only went to the old place once and, to be honest, it wasn't totally successful.

Wil visit the new place for certain.

Fingers crossed!

O'Lume

So pleased for Jaime, looking forward to a meal there next month.

Sounds promising. I dont think it can be denied that in its previous life it could be devoid of atmosphere for whatever reasons. One thing that couldnt be denied however was the standard of food.

We were going to eat in the old O Lume on our last night during May, but I couldn't drag my wife in there despite my protestations that this was THE most recommended restaurant on the forum. We looked in from outside and it looked totally dead. Ended up at La Fortalesa which was very good and not a disappointment in any way. Will definitely make a point of visiting at least once in the summer.

Popped in 3 nights last week, i enjoyed the old restaurant, and the new one is much better located, lit etc. Goes with-out saying the food and service are still of the highest standard, the log fire roaring away, should be interesting in the summer when the courtyard will open. No matter what time of the year your in PP, O'Lume is always open, indeed, having dined there so much i've got to know quite a few of the locals and i'm struck with the amount of staff from the likes of the Dainia, Stay, Can Caurussa etc who dine there, that on it's own should tell you something.

Only a few days to go and we will be booking our 1st late night table in the new place! So excited!!!!
Just one question...................Leche Frita...............Si O No? Jaime

O' lume

Robjay, Naw! and he has been told of in no uncertain manner.:)

o´lume

Had a wonderful meal in there Sunday evening as always food fantastic. I had the lamb chops and they were so yummy. We were lucky enough to meet Sea Captain and Pinewalk stroll and family. What lovely people.
New restaurant really nice and all the best to Jaime. Enjoyed seeing him laugh so much over my Christmas story.

Tried O'Lume for the first time last week after reading so many positive reports.

Location - Perfect, with log burning fire, really cosy and warm.

Presentation - 10 out of 10

Food quality - Good overall, but very disappointed with the lamb chops, very tough and chewy:(, hopefully it was a one off.

I will go back but not before I have tried out several other well recommended restaurants.

Sorry to hear about your chops Whaley but mine were yummy.
Had another very nice meal last night, this time a half portion steak which was cooked to perfection and I love Jaime for the complimentary croquettas which was a long story and I nearly kissed him when he served them- I think he knew it too cos he ran lol!!
Seriously, O'lume is such a great night out, the food is fab and even when busy, which it was last week the service is second to none. The new member of staff, a young lady and I feel awful cos I can't remember her name is a star.

Pops, Yes, she is a lovely wee girl! That's the pleasant upside to restaurants getting busier, kids like that get good employment.

We have found the lamb chops to be a bit hit & miss too. The first time I had them I thought they were wonderful & cooked to perfection. Then I went back with family & they were really disappointing so I haven't had them since. We used to really enjoy the 'veal' kebab that was often served on the MDD which seemed to be more like steak than what I would call veal but they don't seem to have that on the main menu (& have dropped the MDD).

When we went this year the starters were gorgeous - the duck salad & octopus (separate dishes!), but the fish was disappointing - overcooked & my tomato-based sauce (can't remember the name), overpowering - which was a shame as the fish they used to do on the MDD was always much more delicate & tasty. Next time I think I'll try their steak!

I had my usual Steak and loved it both times. And one of Pops lamb chops when she was chatting to the staff;)
You can tell by the texture and taste of the meat served that it is of the highest quality.
The ambiance in the resturant made for 2 nights that are hard to beat.
Talking to a few locals who frequent O lume they reflect the same feelings as many of the other forum members.

A Word of Warning!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
I forgot to mention this. We popped into O lume the night before our second visit for a drink and to book a table.
Jaime was about to turn us away!!!! because he explained he was fully booked and was on the phone bringing an extra member of staff in because of the people just turning up expecting a table!!! He looked so relieved when we told him we wanted to book for the following night. Before we left 3 large parties arrived!.
This happened on a friday night in winter, what will it be like in the summer?

I think we will have to forget the old days of walking in and expecting a table.

Please take my advice........Book early!
