On the beach 2024

I understand from Jet2 that building works are ongoing in Llenaire next to the Hobby Club Appts even though the seasonal building restrictions should have come into force. Any details please?

Just returned from Llenaire and the place going up next to The Hobby Club is mahoosive! I was surprised that they were still working on the site and starting at 8am. We didn't hear any drilling or the like, but lots of metal clanging. I'd post a pic, but after my last efforts, won't bother.

Certainly no sign of La Roca, Embat or Llaut being reinstated any time soon. (on 6th May) I can't believe the companies tendering for the sunbeds and parasols have any control over the beach bars, as these are run by separate organisations/companies.

Either way its a proper sh1tshow and as has been said, with losing Suirell and the Galleon dilapidated...Llenaire is not looking great!

With a bit of luck may be solved by Christmas...I think the expression is " manyana ".
Does this include the beach bars Embat and La Roca? How can these enterprises arrange for the season at such short notice. I assume that the lifeguard stations will be operating.

I would have thought, that the provision of the lifeguards are part of the beach tender. Perhaps Sparky knows more?

In regards to the beach bars, I took it, that they were included in the 32 'terraces' that were tendered.

Looking for an increase of 130% for some of the lots, as per the FB post mentioned, compared to the previous tender is quite steep.
The fees for the parasols and the sunbeds will likely reflect it. Once they get around to putting them onto any of the beaches.

Had a brief look at the tender. The terraces in question only apply to the actual terraces in front of restaurants and hotels, as far as I could see, not the beach bars.

The estimated tender value for the lot is about EUR 5.7m for the beach services and the terraces for 2024-2027

Please forgive me for banging on but have been to Alcudia beach today and it was packed with people enjoying all the facilities up and running whereas on my return to PP the beach was empty!! Whilst great for photo opportunities to see the place like a deserted Carribbean Island it does not bode well for the longevity of the lovely businesses and staff that makes PP such a great place to be!! Shame our small voice has no influence on the great and good of the local town council:(

The authorities just can't seem to get there act together, when procedures change.
As per the 'on the beach 2021'-thread, it took until 1 July, to get the poles for the sun umbrellas up at Tamarells.
There was an issue around tendering then.
Local politics might have an impact too.

I get, that some legal steps have to be followed, when it comes to the tendering, but they sure take their time.

Damaging their 'product' with their admin issues doesn't seem to cause them much concern.

Also, not all areas have to follow the same procedures. For example, Alcudia council operate the beds and brollies, so no need to wait for tenders .

Life guards are in place now. The beach bars and the sunbed operators are not connected.

As an example of total ineptness and total disregard of the tourists whose hard earned cash support the local economy, businesses and most importantly people - you couldn't make it up!!

How not to run one of the best tourist resorts on the island:(

Just back home a good two week stay at Hobby Cub.

I don't wish to moan but...most disappointed that the usual beach facilities were not present. I am not too keen on the plethora of loungers etc. on the beach at Llenaire as I think that too many spoil what is a great area. I am aware that many make use of and enjoy them but think that they are taking over what is a huge local attraction.
Perhaps, if and when, they are installed this year then larger gaps between the blocks could be arranged.

We missed the beach bars Embat and La Roca as did others we spoke to. Both visitors and locals.

Most surprising and difficult to accept was the lack of W.C.facilities. This must be a great "inconvenience" especially for those with young children. Did not effect us as hotel just over the road.

I will revert later with a separate diatribe regarding the Taxi system, organised by the council again I assume, when my typing digit has recovered!

Regards.

I agree....its unbelievable that there are no wc facilities at least. Those responsible should hang their heads in shame. It's pretty obvious where everyone will go when the water warms up!

Looking at YouTube the other day there is an English dame who has plenty to say on the issue of sunbeds, beach bars, toilets and so on.

Try Puerto Pollensa and Sunbedgate in the Search facility if in diffs!

What are the authorities trying to do?

That is Alexandra Smith, from You Tube, and her blog site is "Mallorca Under the Sun". She also has a Facebook page of the same name.

Arrived yesterday. The beaches just look wrong without the sunbeds and lots of sunseekers. Hardly anyone on the beach either.

... Hardly anyone on the beach either.

Looks depressing on the webcam views. Only a few people yesterday in the glorious sunshine.
Apart from the tourists not having any services, sunbeds or loungers, the seafront businesses must be suffering too.
