Palma hotels?

Hola,

I would really appreciate it if anyone could offer me advice on good, central places to stay in Palma? Once settled in the Port I become very reluctant to venture into the city (in the summer months), but I'm really eager to do some sightseeing this year and figure that we might be best staying over for one night, allowing us to go in in the evening, have dinner and an early night then get up super-early to explore before heading back to the sweet peace of the Port by mid-afternoon.

Any suggestions on comfy and friendly places to stay in July (preferably close to the cathedral) would be hugely appreciated!

Have a look at Hotel Born C/ Sant Jaume, 3. Here it is on Google maps/Street view C/ Sant Jaume, 3 Palma mallorca - Google Maps

It's set out around an inner courtyard - bedrooms have windows/balconies overlooking the courtyard (and mature palm trees). Just a few paces down to the top of Paseo de Born and within sight of the Cathedral.

M. A couple of years ago we stayed at Hotel San Lorenzo,its a lovely little boutique hotel in the old town,La Longa.near lots of restaurants,5 mins to marina,10 to cathedral and near Abarco which is worth a visit. Google it and take a look!

We stayed in The Hotel Saratoga totally recently refurbished, it has an excellent location just in the city centre, beside the Avenue Jaime III and the shopping centre where you will find Palma's most important shops. Within 5 minutes walking to the Port, Sea front and Cathedral with a wonderful view over the Bay, Cathedral and the City of Palma Majorca.
They have live jazz on Thursday nights, it's not cheap but the staff were very friendly.

I've stayed there too, back in 2006. It was a lovely hotel with the only negative being that the roof-top pool was closed when we were there. If it's been refurbished then I imagine it will be even better than when we stayed there.

Only negative was that in 2006 it was near the top of Trip Advisor for hotels in Palma (it was 4th I think) and is now nearer the bottom (31/46): Hotel Saratoga on Trip Advisor

Thank you all for the advice, it is much appreciated. Just in from work in a soggy, dreary Edinburgh, I will now have a glass of rioja whilst researching your recommendations!

I Totally agree with Sparky, Having just stayed in the Saratoga Hotel, it is fantastic, ideal location and quality.

Hotel Jaime 111 in Passeo Mallorca also worth a look at - very near Saratoga Hotel. Rooms are large - front facing ones have balcony - good breafast area -a few seats outside.

If you have a look at AlphaRooms and search on Palma, you'll find that they have a good selection of hotels with map locations & give tripadvisor ratings too.

The Can Cera is a gorgeous boutique-type hotel which is very well located for sightseeing but is also in a quiet side street. Beautiful rooms and incredibly helpful staff - we stayed there in October and it was really lovely. I think it was actually No. 1 on Trip Advisor...they seem to be doing everything right!

Stayed in both Jamie III and Saritoga, amongst others but for me a one night of luxury and certainly boutique is Puro... For longer stays they have a beautiful beachside location Purobeach should you need to get out of the city... If you need to get somewhere cheaper and central look at the Tryp hotels, they are chain so bit more cheaper than the 1st two mentioned. Manda

Hello, I can recommend the Hotel Tres, great breakfasts and lovely courtyard to
sit in and have a drink or two. It is located in the old town of Palma therefore no traffic
noise.I have been back many times plus my grown up Kids have stayed there when
visiting Palma for it's night life, and have even achieved upgrades on their rooms.

We have stayed at both the Continental (which is near the shopping district) and the Costa Azul (which overlooks the harbour fantastic views if you get a sea view room), and both were very good.

Booked both on AlphaRooms with no problems and the bus from the Airport goes right past both
