I've only been going to PP for the last seven years but I thought the port and the old town were a lot quieter this year.
There were plenty of beds available all day especially at the south sandy beach area and the melon man seemed to be having a tough time, plenty of heavy sighs and he didn't seem to have too many sales.
I was amazed how quiet the square was on the nights we walked through, even Bonys offering 30% discount til 7.30pm and restaurants which were normally very busy had quite a few tables available not just the square either. I was talking to a waiter from Manduca and he was going to France as it was so quiet.
But PP was as fantastic as ever a few places closed or new ones opened it still had all the right ingrediants to make for a superb holiday resort and we enjoyed it as much if not more this year, if thats possible

Quiet due to recession
However quiet, matters could be a lot worse, months ago someone touched on the subject of many people (not everone, of course) are at present enjoying the benefits of record low mortgages, this can make a huge difference to your disposable income, speaking for myself that has made the difference this year.
Next year? Who knows!
