Mike,

Thanks for that.

Can you help?

Is it the bottom 2 or bottom 3 Clubs that get relegated?

Real Mallorca 1 - Granada 2

Two rounds of matches remaining; two chances for Real Mallorca to escape the drop, but the first chance - at home to Granada - definitely needed to be taken.

Mallorca's early intent was rewarded on nineteen minutes when Cucho Hernández finished off a move that he had started from midfield with a thumping shot past Riu Silva in the Granada goal.
... just before the break came the equaliser for Granada - Victor Díaz belting the ball in from outside the area.

... On the 68th minute, poor defending from a corner led to Carlos Fernández making it two for Granada.

Serbian Aleksandar Sedlar, having substituted Raíllo in the centre of the Mallorca on 63 minutes, received a straight red fifteen minutes later. Lago Junior claimed a penalty (turned down) as the match went into added time. Mallorca, desperate for an equaliser, were wide open as a Granada counterattack led to what looked like a third from Puertas, but which was ruled out for offside. Not that it made any difference; Real Mallorca were relegated anyway.

Thanks for that Mike we already feared the worst.

Worse than Mallorca going down, Real Madrid are champions :mad:

Last match of the season for Mallorca was a 2-2 away draw to Osasuna.
23 losses from 38 games and conceding the most goals proved too much to stay in La Liga.

Fingers crossed for a speedy return.

19 Mallorca 38 -25 33
20 Espanyol 38 -31 25

Ex Real Mallorca CEO appointed CEO PFA.

I seem to have been pipped at the post by Mike Dublin on 'potato watch', however from the sports pages here is news, sort of, about Real Mallorca
from The Times this morning:

https://tinyurl.com/newPFAboss

"Maheta Molango, the man who is set to become the next chief executive of the Professional Footballers’ Association after 40 years of Gordon Taylor’s reign, only made a handful of appearances for Brighton & Hove Albion" ....... "In January 2016 Molango became the chief executive of Real Mallorca after the club had been bought by a group of American investors".... " By January 2020 Mallorca were bottom of La Liga and the owners decided to make a change — but it was Molango, not Moreno, who got the bullet the next month."

.. and the other news about the Club is that they are now doing rather well, being top of the league ..

Automatic as well hopefully, none of that playoff malarkey!

https://www.majorcadailybulletin.co...here-real-mallorca-move-closer-promotion.html

With 4,086 supporters allowed back into the Son Moix, Real Mallorca could have anticipated three points against seventeenth-placed Alcorcón in pretty much sealing automatic promotion from LaLiga SmartBank. A win and Mallorca would be eight points ahead of Almeria in third with three games to go.

.. but a third didn't matter as Mallorca took another step towards almost certain promotion.

It was a very poor game last night (at least 2nd half that I saw). There's some improvement needed if they don't want to go straight back down. Again.
