Recession Busting Holiday Shopping

Based on a find I made today, I thought I'd start a thread on how to save cash when shopping for your holiday.

There's already been talk of buying beach toys etc. in charity shops when you arrive.

Another idea is for cheap holiday reading. When I was in our local market today, there was a stall selling last month's glossy magazines. They had all the women's ones, house ones, stuff for men, hobby & travel etc. at 3 magazines for £2.50. I bought 3 house ones normally selling at £3.50 each. If you only buy these sorts of magazines ever so often when you travel as I do, I don't think it matters if they're last month's.

I've also bought several good paperbacks for £1 each from charity shops & of course the library is still free!

Any more ideas?

Car boot sales and village fetes are good for book bargains as well. I bought a load of books last month for 20p each which will keep me going for a while! Some of them were brand new!

monthly mags

haven't looked so far this year but last year bought few womans mags one with free book, another free beach bag have also had flip flops and sunglasses in the past good for a read but also to pick up holiday items free.

Holiday Shopping

When travelling with a child as we do, I buy things like coloured pencils, felt tips, colouring books etc., in the sales and put them away until our holiday. This year my husband managed to get hold of a quiz game for the DS for £5 (a lot of people travel with a DS these days).

All the hotels have a free library, pop in and take one, leave another in it's place and return the book when your finished and so on.
