Restaurant advice please

Hi

I am visiting PP on 4 May for 2 weeks (and cant wait)! We are staying at Bahia Appartments and will get there at about 6pm on the first day. Can anyone recommend a restaurant for the first night that doesnt cost too much and easy to find.

Any tips on restaurants for us would be great. Our children are 13 and 8 and we do need our money to last! What is the average price for meals for a family of 4 etc? Any advice would be gratefully received..... thank you

Hi and welcome to the forum

I assume it is the Bahia apartment complex part way around the bay that you are staying in and not the smaller Hostel Bahia on the pine walk.

I would recommend Tango Ca Vostra ....... It is a flat 10 minute walk along the seafront from where you are staying and offers a great value Menu of the day 3 courses, bread and olives and half a bottle of good wine (Faustino) for about 17euros ....... Loads of choice on a la carte as well and all very reasonable. The food is great quality.

Directions in this link BUT you will be coming from the opposit direction ...... Just walk along the front towards the port and you can't miss it ...... There is a fishing boat on the roof which sounds tacky but isn't

Trio is a partner restaurant to Tango and very similar in offering ...... I just suggested Tango because you are closer

However if you are at theHostel Bahia Trio would be a good choice

Other good value MDD's are Can Torrens in the square 10 euros for good traditional Majorcan food ..... Nothing fancy but great value

Can Josep 19 euros for a full MDD ( but not drinks)

El Casinet and Brisa Marina are also good value

If you look around for the MDD you can eat very well on an average of 20 euros per head for 3 course evening meals with wine/ beer ...... These menus often change daily so if you don't like what you see one day, then do go back and have a look the next.

We go for a walk most days and always take time to check out the menus just in case there is something we particularly like on one of them

Both the Golden Lion and Sparrow Bar are close by, good food and good value for money. If you head down to beach road turn left and go along to beach bar turn left again towards Pollensa Park hotel (can't miss it its the only high rise in port) Golden Lion is opposite and Sparrow bar behind the Panorama Beach.
Lots of choice in the port various pricing, some great kids meal deals, unfortunately now our two need adult last year our main meals varied from 50-70 euro mark including wine for adults and soft drinks.

Also worth mentioning that if your children don't have great appetites but also don't want children's meals ..... Which sadly often seem to be of the pizza and chips, chicken and chips , burger and chips variety ..... Many of the restaurants will serve smaller portions of their menu items or simply bring 2 plates.

We used to order a single MDD and ask for 2 plates and then just pay for an extra drink and desert because no matter how full they are they always have room for pud

That way the kids get the chance to sample all the menus without being over faced

Another tip is to skip desert and head down to the Helados hut in the centre for a lovely ice cream

I'd definitely recommend Brisa Marina, especially now it is looking so lovely - I think the MDD is either 15 or 16E including a drink, with a good choice of starters, main courses and puddings. The fish is always excellent and really fresh. They also do really good value children's meals - a delicious pork escalope with chips or salad, and a lovely lasagne, plus a number of other choices. Great friendly service too.

The Ca'n Ferrer is also exceptional value especially if you only want a main course (as far as I'm aware they don't do a MDD, but they are pretty cheap anyway).

Asked for a similar request for our visit last week. On a suggestion from the guys on this forum we opted for Tango.

We ate out most days either lunch or evenings in and around PP and would say the MDD at Tango was the best value meal we had. Be sure to book a window seat as it a large restaurant but the inner area looked a little dark and unwelcoming.

Service was very friendly and efficient.

Couldn't agree more Kate about Ca'n Ferrer. It is exceptional value !!!!!

Our kids 14 and 12 and having been for the last 5 years to PP, they always enjoy Nico's, which is a TexMex just off the square (not to be confused with Dakotas). They do a good kids menu for about 6E inc a drink and desert and the kids food is very good.

You will be spoilt for choice Ginap - There are so many great restaurants and choosing the Menu of the Day (MDD) is a great value option.

Early May is a lovely time to visit - Some beautiful days, and the area is just starting to get busy for the season. I have not doubt that you will have a superb stay.
