For our last day, as we always have an evening flight home & have to leave the accommodation at 10 am, we take the opportunity to explore a bit of the island.
So having packed & tidied, we headed for Mollies Cafe for a great breakfast to set us up for the trip. Then in the car & head out towards Soller through the mountains. We stop at various miradors on the way, including the lakes & Escorca, passing lots of cyclists & a treat for me, motorbike riders on Harleys & Moto Guzzi's.
We reached Port de Soller at about 1pm & parked. We had a wander round but it was very hot & very busy, with quite a few coach trips there. So as this wasn't our first visit we moved on. Up into the hills again heading for Deia. We stopped again, & went to a little bar with a terrace at the back with a wonderful view. Had a drink & admired the 6 week old puppy asleep by the bar, owners were very friendly & welcoming.
As Deia is so tiny we carried on to Valldemossa. Highly recommended, this is a beautiful village with a monastery to visit, lovely shops to wander around & plenty of cafes, bars & restaurants. Very pretty & not too busy either. I had the best iced tea I have ever tasted in a cafe called Cappucino near the small square. Home-made with mint & apple, it was unforgettable! Lovely snacks too!
Then it was about 30 mins to the airport, having had a lovely last day seeing a different side to the island.
I have posted some photos on the flickr site.

Hi Cheryl - that sounds perfect! I have always wondered what to do if the flight is later. I hate hanging around on the last day and getting all sandy with no proper facilities to freshen up before the flight.

Looking forwards to hearing about all your holiday fun!!

Lala :)

Great to read about your last day, Cheryl. We normally do the same thing as we always have an evening flight as well. We, too, have breakfast before heading off, either at Mollie's or Restaurant Llenaire. My daughter insists on going to the Costa de Los Pinos (she has a thing about a little Italian restaurant there and both kids have an ice-cream) and then Porto Petro for lunch.

Last year we drove to Soller and then from there onto Palma as our flight was a little earlier.

Sounds lovely Cheryl, a great way to spend your last day.
Deia and Valldemossa are both so pretty and peaceful.

Thanks peeps! yes they are lovely villages & its nice to explore the island, away from the beaches.

Wow Jane ............ the los pinos restaurant - is it the one on the beach .......... looks just like a beach bar but serves the best food ........... owned by an italian and a french person ..... one male one female forgotten which way round ............... if so, our daughter also loves it

For anyone who hasn;t been Costa los Pinos is just north of Cala Milor / Cala Bona ........... you drive along what looks likea deserted road and the beach and sea is over a small embankment on your right ............ on a sunny day the beach is almost white and the sea an amazing blue green .......its great to spend the day on the beach and then "retire" to the beach restaurant about 5pm for a late lunch / early dinner .................

Try the above link ............ this is definitely the beach.

I can't spot the beach bar though .......... the buildings on the south end of the beach look too large , so I think the bar must be hidden ...... just to clarify ........... food is good but not gastranomic .......... just better than you would expect to find at a beach bar .

The place reminds me a little bit of the sunshine Bar at Son Serra , though more Rustic than the Sunshine Bar ( surroundings , not food )

Beach is quite course and so feels a bit gritty but sea is lovelly , a few waves, gets deep much more quickly than PP or Alcudia but is clear and had some good snorkling once when we were there but another time we returned and saw almost no fish

Hello cd!

The Italian restaurant is opposite a large hotel - I think this may be the Golf Hotel. There's a small spar next door and it's just before you get to a residential area, with villas dotted about among the pines. I'm not sure if it's the same restaurant you are talking about, cd, but it's a lovely little resort and my daughter loves it there! We missed going last year because we didn't have time so went to the airport via Soller instead.
