i think , with the euro going in our favour , poss the restaurants and other shops etc will see a boost this year with hopefully people getting more for there money , we are where we are with austerity , spain being one of the worst , property prices going down 50/60% and this is in the port aswell not just other areas of spain and mallorca
i love and my family love PP , and negativity doesnt entice people to come to this part of the island , we need these people to make PP a place where everybody raves about , it wont stop me from coming year on year with my family and friends

I personally think there's a big difference between negativity and observations. I think some of us are just saying the port needs a bit of money spending on it. The place is lovely and always will be no doubt because its geography dictates that. However, we don't want to fall behind towns that are having money spent on them.

Oh, and yes, I for one will definitely be returning.

While i completely agree that some areas of the Port are in need of repair, the fact is that for many years of most of the available cash was being spent in the town, that's something that used to irritate me personally :(.

This is changing, the ajuntament are addressing the problems of deteriorating pavements and roads, last year Vicent Buades, Roger de Flor and a few side streets were completely resurfaced and pavements repaired. As i type this, in my street there is a machine ripping up the old tarmac ready for a new surface and pavements are due to be repaired when this is done, more streets will also have the same work done. A great deal of money is being spent in the Gotmar area which is long overdue.

I know some of you will say that the front line should take priority but this is a working port and the back street businesses and of course the residents must also be taken into consideration, yes in an ideal world every area would be perfect but the ajuntament have to decide where and when the money is best spent, i am sure that the front line will be next to have a facelift, the money has been earmarked for it.

I'll try again.
Also, I don't think things are helped by the amount of building work going on. Half way along pine walk they are still digging down into the foundations, so that will be going on for ages. Then further on some of the buildings are covered in netting and scaffolding for renovation. Plus the Goleta is an eyesore.

However, will any of this put me off of coming. No chance !! :) I would sooner lay on a bed of rusty nails than miss my PP.
As Mrs P says , " That's a bit over the top ", but you get my drift

Here we go again, from the UH Pollença semipeatonalizará la primera línea del Moll pese a las advertencias de los ecologistas » Part Forana » Noticias » Ultima Hora Mallorca

Pollença semipeatonalizará the first line of Moll despite warnings from environmentalists.
The City Council of Pollença resumed on Thursday the tender for the works of semipeatonalización of the first line of Moll after rejecting the allegations made by various political groups and the GOB, warning that the planned reform does not fit the current urban planning that contemplates the elimination of all traffic rolled between Elcano Street and the driving station Llenaire.

Mayor Bartomeu Cifre Ochogavía confirmed the resumption of the processing. "Although it was not necessary, we decided to make a public presentation of the project and temporarily suspended the tender to resolve the allegations," says the mayor.

Encrypt defends against the judgment of the GOB, the proposed reform does not violate the General Plan because it is not a comprehensive urban redevelopment but a "beautification and improvement plan".

If there are no more surprises, the semipeatonalización begin in November . It depends on the contractor and the next government team decide if the works are executed in phases, to avoid interfering with the tourist season.

The conversion of the first line is a pending issue since the early nineties. The land-use planning stated that the road between Alcudia and Pollença should "peatonalizar recovering this space as a walk at sea level, in quiet and peaceful movement."

I have highlighted one paragraph because there are elections coming up so it could all change again :rolleyes:.

Ahhhh, The old pedestrianisation rears its head yet again. Rinse and repeat ect-- Oh my aching ribs:D
By the time they do it, I'll be too old to walk along it.

Yes "silly season" is upon us, even i have difficulty keeping my glass half full on this subject  ;).

"semipeatonalización"

Try saying that after a few Bony's cocktails.😨

Back on the agenda again, work starting in November, but we have heard that before haven't we!!

Just a minute while I stop myself from laughing. Ah, that's better. I wouldn't say this has been promised for a long time, but I first remember my mother pushing me across the road in a pram, saying " one day son, you won't have to worry about the cars coming along this road ".

Now Mrs P say's " Don't worry about the cars, by the time they pedestrianize it, you'll be too b---y old to walk along it ":D
Ah well, Ce La Vie
