Phew made it out of the garage at long last!! Thanks for the concern Tangoman, Debz on the other hand didn't seem that bothered , too involved with her new kitchen !!

We first came to PP on our honeymoon when we were staying in Alcudia in 1978. The pedestrianisation north of the roundabout had not yet been done. It is impossible now to imagine it as it once was and no one can deny that the port is all the better for the change. Our apartment is in El Pinaret and we see increasing numbers of people walking down to the town from Llenaire. I'm sure the completed scheme will provide a much improved walk and choice of places to stop for all the holidaymakers at this end. It will also provide opportunities for the local businesses, seabar IS for example will be able to spread onto the pavement.

Every year we come to PP wondering what changes may have occurred and I for one think this development is very exciting. Of course it needs to be done right but have the council really made that many cock ups in the past ? The by pass is well used and I frequently use it if I am coming to town or going to Formentor and it will be a great enabler when the new scheme kicks in. Personally I wish the council good luck with what I think is a brave venture.

A temporary measure perhaps (and I hope!) but if the pedestrianisation is meant to be take [at least] two years, following which there is no new home for the bus stop on the front line, how temporary is "temporary"?:eek:

Here is a photo of the new bus stop :-

We have all criticised the ajuntament for taking so long to start this project, well now the work has begun and i think we should give it a chance, we may all be surprised and happy with the outcome so lets wait and see :D.

I fully agree Chealseadons, well said.

Also, thanks for the excellent photo's Sparky.
The 'temporary' bus stop seems a bit tucked away, I believe it's just off the main square, but possibly it suits the present one way traffic system.
Good to see the H & S fencing and accompanying signs!
Who would have thought the Spanish would have succumbed to this several years ago.
Just shows what a good job the EEC are doing in the construction and civils industries.
Hope all goes well.

I didn't take the photos, they were posted on FB by the ajuntament so i pinched them ;) but i thought some of you would be interested to see proof that things are being done.

Blimey, the Spanish have gone 'elf n safety" mad!
Our lot would be proud of those signs, bollards, fencing et al.

Having just looked at those photographs, does anyone know if they are going to remove those trees, which it looks like?? What a pity if they do.

I'd be amazed if they did, there'd be an uproar. If there's going to be no vehicular traffic I'd imagine there would be plenty of room for them to stay, and I certainly hope so.
It would be criminal otherwise.

The fencing has now been extended as far as Burger King. The beach side is closed the other side at the moment is open.

When coming in via the Bay from Alcudia yesterday, we discovered that the barriers closing the road were sited just after the Guardia Civil base.

We had to turn left then into a residential area which we were unfamiliar with. :( Not one 'Deviation' sign in evidence.

At least we saw the road with tree growing in the middle of it! :)

Welcome to Pinaret Lorenzo ;) It is rather twisty turny going that way if you are unfamiliar with it, especially the bit at the top  I think eventually people will decide it's easier turn off at the roundabout leading straight onto the bypass, or the one by the Pollensa Park.

Imagine how much fun that will be in busy August :D:D

Either way the road will still be closed. So traffic:D will still have to find its way around
:D

Haha first the work would never get started and now it won't be finished by August! You're certainly covering all bases :D:D:D

Fils take my word for it as a resident of El Pinaret you are unlikely to get lost in it !! I'm firmly in the camp of the front will be all the better for less traffic and there are umpteen ways of driving to the by pass and then into the port, detours that will I'm sure take all of 5 minutes !!

Plenty of people driving slowly through Pinaret at the moment, peering up roads trying to find their way out, not helped at all by the enormous amount of work at Villa Concha, with the roads being blocked by machinery and skips.
