It looks a great, classy venue.......one I shall use a lot methinks......and got to be good news for PP.

Let's hope we get a few more classy bars and eateries and less of the tackier ones.

Sis Pins / Cappuccinos

I went in this morning for a coffee. There was a gentle cool breeze, so I sat behind the screen on the terrace.
The waiter came out, took my order and immediately lit the heater on the terrace near to me!
Inside it is beautiful. The staff are charming and the food/drinks are of the usual standard that I have got used to in branches over the island.
I don't mind paying 2.45€ for a very good coffee with service and surroundings like this.

100% right about the views, but, you pays yer money, you take your choice. Think a lot of us are relieved to see a attempt to turn PP back into the classier resort it once was rather than have Indian chiefs in head-dress staring at us as we walked along the front.

Fully agree Smiddy - will certainly give 'Cappuccinos' a try on my next visit, but not 'till I've had my first cold beer of the hol's at I'lla D'Or!

Thats all I could afford to do at their prices!!! 4 euros for ironically a capuccino and 15 euros for lasagne, yur having a giraffe.no brainer it is (wipe the cows a?s# and put it on the plate Gringo)

Let's not get back into the perrennial "Tex Mex" bashing season, as Smiddy says "yer pays yer money yer takes yer choice". I agree with the comments about class etc but we have to be realistic and see that IF Puerto Pollensa is to survive it has to offer choice and if the cheapest coffee were to be 2.45, there might not be many takers.

Look forward to hearing reports on the food - has anyone actually eaten there yet? Isn't there a restaurant called Tahini which is serving Japanese-influenced food, as well as the cafe part which does the usual lunchtime dishes?

At the risk of stirring up the argument still further, if I wanted a cheap and cheerful holiday, I would not go to PP as there are plenty of other Mallorcan resorts which do that better. PP has never been about budget holidays and never should be - that's what gives it its particular appeal.

What a lot of controversy over Cappuccinos We will certainly give it a go in May and judge their expensive cappuccini for ourselves - and decide whether its worth it or is it a tad pretentious and over-priced It does look very attractive in the pics certainly an improvement on some of the new 'bar' places opened up around PP.

Just thought I would put in their link again - curtesy of Portofan - as a few pages have gone by. Unfortunately they have not put the Puerto Pollensa branch up yet, but it will certainly give a comprehensive idea of what they serve - although the prices are not listed, and you know what they say about if you need to ask the price!

I do think that choice is name of the game, and you certainly have the choices now in the area. If you want the cheapest - stay in the apartment / hotel / villa and do self catering. Cheap meals; cafe type restaurants, family friendly restaurants available, dearer types available - Stay, La Longa etc. and now Cappuccino for probably not quite as family friendly, but will attract those looking for a place exacatly to these standards at some point. Viva la difference!

Have to disagree with you there Kate, why can PP be about budget holidays, I had ten years of cheap and cheerful holidays there when the kids were small, budget flights, apartment booked through here, PP is the perfect place for that, the beach and the sun are free and you can choose to eat in or out at reasonable priced places or more up market places The thing that gives PP its appeal is the beautiful views, the lovely beach, and most of all the most friendly people you could wish to meet anywhere, it has always been a place with something for everyone, from cheaper budget priced places through to the more exclusive end, and in these uncertain times PP will need to appeal to all sorts to keep it going.

Knew I'd opened my big mouth only to put my foot right in it... I didn't mean to suggest in my post that PP should only cater to the very affluent - apologies if that was how it sounded. Like you SWS we used to regard PP as a relatively inexpensive holiday, certainly compared to the UK - but then the euro came along and that was the end of that. But even now if you don't want to flash the cash you can choose the menu del dia at lots of restaurants - or as you say self-cater. Which is exactly what we do. But I still feel that compared to - for example - Ca'n Picafort, or even Alcudia, PP does have a more upmarket ambience. For many reasons, but partly because the frontline restaurants, with a few exceptions, have not been overtaken by fast food establishments and theme restaurants (such as Dakota). So even if some people choose not to use them, places such as Bar Cappuccino can only be a good thing. If a cafe con leche is seriously 4 euros I doubt I will be going there very often either - but then nor would I set foot in a Dakota, simply because they look so tacky.

Probably I am digging an even bigger hole for myself so I will shut up now.

Not at all Kate, you are entitled to your opinion as much as any member is, I agree with you on the feel that PP has an upmarket ambiance, Pollensa even more, but that feeling shouldn't extend to exclusivity. Post away Kate although I guess this may be moving to a new thread soon.

You girls are right again as I said a few days ago!
The views on Cappachino/Tex etc just highlight what we all know and love about our PP/Pollenca area,tever you can make your own choice and go wherever.
The choice is wide,budget or pay more,whatever you want.Thats why we go to PP rather than follow others to the southern resorts.
Ive been going to PPfor over 20 yrs and what we are seeing now is the natural progress we all should expect.

The 4 euros I quoted was for a capuccino not con leche but i'm afraid i got it wrong it's 4,25!! and the lasagne 15,90!! oh and a bowl of soup 7,05!!
