Oh yes !!! many do and without reflective clothing or helmets and also they seem to think it's perfectly ok for them to go the wrong way down a one-way street.

Even more amazing is the sight of people riding mopeds, scooters and more powerful motorbikes in shorts, teeshirts and flipflops with their helmets hanging on the handlebars

The Points refer to Spanish Licences, I do not know how they relate to UK ones. Although I have read that you can be banned in Spain, and have your licence confiscated, which in time is returned to you via the DVLC. This does not stop you driving in UK or other countries!

The use of a mobile telephone, other than a true hands-free, whilst driving is now banned in Spain, even at the side of the road. You have to pull off the road completely away from any traffic. You may also not have any device in your ears to listen to music or your mobile phone etc., only allowed is something for enhancing your hearing, i.e. a deaf-aid. Sadly, you still see erratic driving where a mobile is in use, but penalty points can now be awarded.
Navigation aids and DVD´s etc.
The law has now been changed and clarified regarding sat navs - You can have them installed (including speed camera detectors) but you must not touch the unit whilst the vehicle is moving

I cant find anything that says it specifically for cyclists, although it is law for car drivers to have one in the boot.
You could email Pro Cycle at Puerto Pollensa direct and ask them, I am sure they will know everything! Their email adds is at the bottom of their website.

Like GL I cycle much of the time when in PP but I don't think I've ever seen a local with reflective jacket at night. Come to think of it I've never seen a local with lights on at night!

Found this on what appears to be a bona fida site advising on Spanish Law. Can´t decide whether or not it is serious !!
The Spanish helmet law came into effect from 23rd January 2004. It applies to bicycle riders of all ages. However it does not apply: to cyclists riding in towns and cities; during periods of extreme heat; when riding up steep hills; or to professional cyclists.
A fine of up to EUR90 can be imposed for not wearing a helmet.

Deanscroft that is incredible isn't it, no wonder the death toll on Spanish roads was so bad ................thankfully the law was reformed in May 2010.

Speed limit reduced.
The Spanish transport minister has announced a reduction of the maximum speed limit from 120 kph to 110 kph. As i understand it this measure is not really for road safety reasons but to reduce fuel consumption.

The new speed limit law has been introduced to reduce consumption according to Spanish news this morning and comes into force on the 07th March 2011, so all you radar hunters........beware as the fines are very steep and points from your licence are deductable as well as the fine, I do not know whether they can deduct points from a UK licence but if you are living here and carry a Spanish licence as you should be then it could be up to 6 points deducted.

Yes Sparky, according to DB it is a temporary measure to help reduce costs and they are also going to reduce rail fares to encourage more use. I wonder if Mr Cameron is listening.
