Stay Restaurant

In the meantime one day last week we had lunch from the printed snack menu. I had my usual grilled chicken and chips.....
I can only describe the chicken as tough as old boots. The knife seemed to have given up attempting to cut it to size. Needless to say I pushed it to one side and concentrated on eating the chips.
The waitress enquired if all was well, and I explained what the problem with the offending chicken was.
The bill duly came and the grilled chicken meal had been deleted.

Whilst the chicken and chips obviously slipped through quality control the staff were very good and professional.

We will be back to Stay - everyone can have a bad day

Sad to see that with the advent of the new QR Code menus, the number of items on the tapas menu has reduced, which is a great shame.

Yes. I agree. I’m a big fan of the Russian Salad which has been removed from the Tapas menu. I miss it as it’s a nice accompaniment to the fried/dryer dishes when choosing a selection.

There have also been reductions / changes to other menus. Sardines are no longer on the snack (or any) menu whilst the prawns in tempura with salad and ginger dressing has been replaced with prawns and vegetables in tempura.

Jesus explained to me the other evening that there were 94 separate dishes on the old menu which was too much.

The reduction in tapas menu means that virtually all that is now offered is fried. No Russian Salad, veal etc. We also felt quality of some items had declined - the squid had clearly been re-heated.

Tapas at Stay was always a Sunday afternoon treat after visiting Pollensa market and whilst I won't be giving up on the restaurant I hope that this is just a glitch.

Maybe the Russian salad was removed in solidarity to our Ukrainian friends?

The one thing Gordon Ramsay used to do in his Kitchen Nightmares series, was to reduce large menus to much smaller ones, which allowed the Chefs to focus on better quality food.

I can see that there were too many dishes on the old menu and I suspect some of them (the kidneys for example) were very seldom ordered. However, was really sad to see that some of our favourites have been removed, including the delicious chicken and bacon salad that was part of the lunch/snack menu; there are so many other great places for lunch in the Port now (Bocchoris and Ses Monges for example), and while these obviously don't have Stay's view they are still pretty well located - and the food is amazing. I hope they do reconsider, but I know a lot of restaurants are having to offer a restricted menu, presumably due to lack of staff.
