Strange grey vessel in Bay of Pollensa

Does anyone know what the unusual grey ship in the Bay of Pollensa is doing? It's an unual geometric shape, with shiney bars on its bow & a weird, sloping black structure on its aft end. Is it a survey vessel of some sort?

Might it be to do with the cable being laid between the mainland and Mallorca?
