Tango/Trio

I'm sure there are old posts on the forum regarding the historical connections between Tango, Tots and Trio - all very popular with their differing clients over many years. So sorry that Trio will be no more but couldn't ask for a better replacement than Tango. Lots of people will remember the old days when Tango was just off the main square and will be delighted that they are coming back into the town (or thereabouts). If I am right they were originally on the site redeveloped with shops / Hotel Mar Calma, though would be corrected on this.

No it was opposite Mulligans and behind the Hotel Daina ;).

Thanks for that Sparky - I must have got the wrong corner when looking at Mar Calma on Google!
Out of interest, how many years is it now since Tango moved. Anyone know?

So glad i saw this thread. We have been visiting Trio for 30 years and will be very sad to see it go. But now I have the opportunity to say 'gracias y adios' when I visit in September. The kids sarted 'eating out' at Tots and as they got older so enjoyed Trio. All adults now so it will be a big farewell when we come over.

we will also be visiting on our oct trip to say goodbye and happy retirement to juan and kath

one of our favs during quieter months for many years and many happy xmas days with the family in recent times

too busy for us in summer months and a bit "canteeny" food served but always well enjoyed by all during our visits and made more than welcome at all times, more than can be said of some places that ask premium prices for location etc

from memory we have enjoyed the xmas day mdd in there past 6 years for around 12 euro a head, try that in the uk ;)

I think 'canteeny' is a bit unfair Gers! The food is predictable - but in a good way:) We have eaten in restaurants at both ends of the scale and have paid a lot of money for very average food (both in PP and elsewhere) - Trio's warm crusty rolls and alioli take some beating and my OH who is an 'expert' on mussels ;) says that Trio's are the best he has had anywhere:)

apologies R3 you are correct my comment was a bit unfair but couldn't think of another way to describe food at the time.

yes predictable is probably the word I was looking for in busy months and very obviously pre-prepared we think but a gem out of season when less going on

many many happy memories in the place and don't really want to diss it tbh

but has to be said summer months pile them in to earn a coin, out of season more time to relax

that's just business not a criticism ....!!!!!

Don't know but it's a fantastic location, similar to can curassa which does a terrific trade. :)

As we have personal history with this building / restaurant from over 20 years ago now, I am worried that it will be left empty to deteriorate. I don't think the position should be that much of a concern, after all, as rioja said, Can Curassa is a great restaurant. I think it probably needs to find a niche/specialist restaurant on the same standard of CC (obviously helped by being the sister restaurant of Stay of course) in order to draw people away from the easier to get to Port restaurants. Will miss the views, the chicken, the MDD great wines, and the easy parking!! ;)

The restaurant was always busy when it was Cellar Ca Vostra before the Tango era. If my memory serves me right it closed after being damaged in the Hurricane and lay empty for a couple of years.

I do not see any reason why a good restaurant wouldn't survive here - the location is stunning and not that far out - it's only a little way on from Siurell:)
