Ring Road

Can anyone let us have an up date on the progress of the new road? Those of us not privaledged to live in PP or visit more than a couple of times a year would welcome hearing from any residents or more frequent visitors.

New Road

Work progresses!
If you stand on Calle Cadernera (the road that heads from Habitat towards the Poll. Park) just before the left turn into Pinaret, you can now see all the way to the boatyard near Caprabo. (This entrance to Pinaret is where the roundabout will be.)
If you look to the right, I think it is Calle Falco, the road has been widened and lots of the trees taken down. There were big diggers and earth movers in last week and if you go to the end of this road you can see the course the road will take, going past Llenaire.
There has been a lot of work over the last few weeks generally.
Coming from Alcudia, you can see where the road will leave the sea-front to sweep round the back of Llenaire.
It's following the photographs and plans that have been about for some time.

I hope this is useful.

Re: New Road

If you can, log onto flickr and try and find my photos. just click onto any of them and scroll through and hopefully the ones taken of the building works should be there. Its mostly of LLenaire area / Gommar.

Re: New Road

We have an appartment in C/Gavina (1 road back from the new road in Gotmar) My in-laws have been there for the last month and the amount of noise is a definate nuisance. However, they heard on the grapevine that work will stop on May 1st, so a respite during the season. Has anyone else heard the same?

If you look at a previous post (by Sandy, I think) quoting from the Bulletin, it states that the construction work will be suspended during the summer in the urban area to avoid disturbance. I assume that Gotmar falls into the definition of urban. So you should have minimal disturbance, although it may well be rather unsightly.

Just wish I was coming over this year to see for myself!

I live on c/Falco and the noise has been a pain to say the least but its looking like the rumour about work stopping in residential areas in May might be correct. In Gommar the work has progressed rapidly and gravel has been layed on top of the dirt/soil which has made going to and from home easier and they have now moved further up towards the P.Park/Llenaire stretch of the road. Fingers crossed!!

I suppose the only problem with the work stopping is that the affected roads, especially c/Falco, will be like dirt tracks for the whole of the summer.

If you are booked into (for example) Las Velas Apts. it might not be too pleasant.

But I think I could put up with it for a couple of weeks!

So far only c/Falco a dirt track and they've laid gravel on top so not that bad, side streets are same as before Q

Since I see that the last update on the progress of the road was back in April, could anyone confirm whether it is finished yet, or not?

I suspect not, but unless all work has stopped it must be close to completion - in some sections at least.

I've only got till the end of June to wait to find out myself - not that long (not as though I am counting!)

Hi alanglens,
We were in the Port for a fortnight, got back last Friday. There ia certainly progress. While we were there lots of kerbstones were laid, and the roundabout on the beach road has been tarmaced. They seem to be working their way back from there.
The other end of Gotmar is in a bit of a state now as new drainage is going in. This seems to be an extention of the work done on the main road outside Caprabo a couple of years ago.

Thanks for that. We will be staying in Llenaire this year, and I was hoping that if the road was finished it might have taken some of the traffic off the coast road. Seems unlikely to be completed by end June though.

As of January 20 (when we returned to the UK) work on the road was continuing at some speed. I believe the completion target is June so you could be lucky. Once open it will be interesting to see which roads are most heavily used to link the new road with the seafront.

Oh how I wish this road would hurry up and get finished now! There is a lot to be said for going to PP out of season usually, but this May has not been one of the best breaks Ive had there!
All building/road works have to be completed by the beginning of the summer season as we know, and boy, dont they go for it!
The road behind Llenaire has progressed in leaps and bounds after the initial drainage problem. Pavements have now been laid and square holes are there for - hopefully - trees to be planted.
Work started every morning from as early as 7.30. With work going on at the back of the apartments, lorries carrying topsoil trundled past the normally quiet front road, over the field to deposit it next to the pathway. Then back again empty. Over and over again! The road then became muddy due to the rain. The noise and fumes were not what we had hoped for when escaping from London!
Im sure it will be fine when finished, and definately quieter in a couple of months, but Im still struggling with it at the moment!:(

New Road

The Mayor is saying "three weeks", so the beginning of July looks like a possibility for completion, but you know what it means when someone gives you a date in Mallorca!

Cheers!

Hi

When I was there in May my three year old loved all the activity on the new road! I think he thought it was Bob the Builder come to life! Every day he would asked me to take him on the new road. We would walk from Caprabo to Pollensa Park Hotel along the new road and then back again. He loved all the activity.

It depends on your perspective I suspect!

Frito, it wouldnt surprise me if it was finished in 3 weeks actually the way they were working last week! The sign posts are up and waiting to be uncovered by the turn off on the coast road and the road is accessible to drive up from Pollensa Park to the apartments at Gotmar, although not yet up as far as Llenaire. Mind you, there did seem to be the rogue car and bike that zoomed up at a million miles an hour about 3 am im the morning!

New Road Opening

The word on the street is that the new road is to open on July 1st.
Judging from the amount of frantic work that is going on, July 1st seems reasonable!
Anybody seen what they are putting in the middle of each of the new roundabouts?

Cheers!

Frito.

New Road Opening

Come on Frito don't tease all we absent PP lovers! Tell us what they are putting in the middle of each of the new roundabouts.

roundabout

One of the new roundabouts has a penny farthing type sculpture on it. It's the artwork constructed for the Pollensa Fira last November and was displayed in the Cloisters then on a huge bed of sand. The council bought it recently for one of the roundabouts, newspaper report didn't say how much they paid, but at least from a safety angle you can see through it's spokes!

ring road

Just heard the road is to be opened this Friday (June 27) at 11am
