Thanks for the advice Mark but I read this post about 20 times and could not understand what to do, perhaps I need someone to guide me step by step then I should get it ok.

Hi Mark

Yes I think it does.
It then cuts accross to the Gotmar area, past Las Velas appartments and also near to the Pollensa Park Hotel. Then out to the coast road.

Thanks, so I will have to cross it when walking between my rented apartment and the seafront/ town? That is good, it may shorten the walk into PP from Gotmar? It will shorten my trips to Caprabo and Alcudia by car too?

I wonder how long it will take to get added to the map?

New road

It is good to see the photos posted but I am still confused as to where the road starts, and I think I have figured out where it ends. I notice at least one roundabout so if you are stuck behind someone dithering in 5 weeks time it will probably be me as roundabouts really make me think when they are 'the wrong way round';)

The new road is great, from what I can see I think it has improved most of the area for the villa's and apartments around it.

At first I was really against the new road, but I'm warming to it gradually since it's really reduced my walking time into the Port (we're in Pinaret), and my son has no problems walking the distance to feed the donkeys!

We are only 1 block back from the new road and I have been concerned for some time that vehicle noise would be a major problem. I am happy to report that you would hardly notice any extra noise at all!

They have done a great job, and I know that many of us do not like these type of changes, but on balance I think it is a worthwhile improvement.

Well THATS good news! Also one block away at Llenaire so have been concerned right from the start when the goats stopped there morning bells. Although noticed a couple up in the tree by the side of the road the other month - wont do it now though I expect, with the cars going past!

Does anybody have an update on the commencment on the pedestrianising of the front between the roundabout and Llenaire?

Is the first phase of this to be from the roundabout to Ave Paris and phase 2 to be from Ave Paris to Llenaire or are there more steps?

Nick Barnard? Anne? Frito? Anybody?

Rab I have heard....but it could just be a rumour.... that the first phase will be from Ave de Paris to Llenaire.

I personally think that is mad... if you're going to pedestrianise, the stretch from the roundabout to Ave de Paris would seem the most obvious. I think the problem they've got is planning how to create access to the shops and bars in that area, and whether they will have to put in a service road. Also the car park near the marina is always packed so they would therefore have to create another car park somewhere.

My information for phase one of the pedestrianisation is La Gola to Llenaire. Actually this is not as silly as it first appears. If the above stretch becomes traffic free then the La Gola to the Marina stretch also becomes more or less traffic free but still enables access. This does not just impact on shopkeepers; do not forget all the water-side activities that require access, not to mention buses and taxis. The big question is where will those people park who used to do so in the La Gola to Llenaire stretch and will all the roads around Pineret get clogged up? If so, coach access to Villa Concha will become very difficult. There is, of course, lots of parking space either side of the new ring road but can you see many people walking all the way from the back of Llenaire to get to the beach? Interesting, me thinks!

Hence why they have postponed all actions until further consultation now!
(it's obviously not been properly thought through...)

IMO it just gets worse! A cold shiver went down my spine at the thought of the roads around Llenaire getting just as clogged up as those of PP with vehicles "just parking", rather than the few that are residents.
That would just be moving the problem from one are to another.
I had just got used to the road actually being there, without thinking about the consequences of pedestrianisation!
