And I'm not going this year:( Left it too late for a decent apartment. 1st summer in 12 years I haven't booked by January.

Fed up with reading these reports would normally be only 4 weeks to go.

Can I possibly face a summer here!!

Right peeved off, to be polite.

Thanks Sparky checked those but we are tied to the 11th August and there's not much availability for just the 2 of us a 5 bed villa may be on overkill!!!!

Besides I have a fussy wife must have a pool:)

My fault becoming a Grandfather and buying a property for my daughter and her husband and of course the little one, took up too much of my time

La Fortalesa

Part 4 The Home Straight
4th July
Went to the Forum Meeting on the 3rd and apart from meeting with members (see Sparky’s report) received a recommendation from Clinkham regarding the new owners of La Fortalesa. Convinced the FussieFriends we should try it out. What a find. It’s run by a chef, his mother girlfriend and a friend. What the girls lack in front of house training they more than make up with friendliness and enthusiasm. The chefs pretty good too!
We were greeted with a well glass of bubbly, plates of tomato bread placed on the table. When we ordered a bottle of albarinio the special glasses were brought out. We ordered avocado salad, gazpacho, garlic prawns, and chicken croquettes to start. The portions were huge! The croquettes 4 off could have sufficed for all four as a starter. We then had to deal with lemon sole, dorado, John Dory and 'meat cake' a shepherds pie type dish. The fish fillets were again huge and at least two per plate! By the end we thought we were stuffed until FussieFriend ordered a cheesecake and 4 spoons. Not the normal biscuit base more the baked variety. No matter we found room for it!
On receipt of bill 107 euros we were given complimentary liqueurs. Finished the evening discussing with chef and staff the old pictures of Puerto Pollensa hanging on walls and confirming the exact location of the old Bull Ring. A fantastic night with excellent food. Try this place out.
As a footnote for Clinkham there were 26 diners that evening whilst we were in.
I'm glad you found La Fortalesa to your liking. From the other thread running at the moment it looks like we are not alone in being impressed with the new management and food.
Hopefully they will soon get over their 'first night nerves' and as a result of all the positive comments on here get more punters through the door.
Its certainly on my list for the end of August.:)

Mrs Lizard TheFussies were glad to have you along. Definitely thought that the larger group made it a more interesting experience. Only another 48 weeks before we can try it again!
