Last night (Monday) we had a sensational meal at Zarzales.

We did starters off the Tapas Menu and shared some great food. For me, the high note is the Baby Broad Beans with Sobrosada.

Two of our group had the Roast Suckling Pig which, by a very short head, we all think us the best in the port. I shared a Slow Cooked Baby Lamb with two others and it was absolutely delicious. The lamb is from social Pollensa farm too.

Yolanda gave us a local Rum. The idea is to drink most of your Espresso and then clean the cup by pouring the Rum in, swill it around and knock it back. It was great, but at 53% pure rocket fuel!

This restaurant is right at the top of its game and more than one of our group nominate this as our favourite PP restaurant. We will have a vote at holiday's end on Saturday and post our Top Five.

I got my way! It's El Meson tonight. Our first visit, so fingers crossed!

Well yes......I did get my way and we went to El Meson. Thank you SO much to everyone who recommended this. We had a great meal.

Started with a jug of Sangria and then ordered the "Menu 3" Tapas option for the four of us and were not disappointed.

Started with Bread and Olives - the Olives were really fantastic. The various dishes were Meatballs, Squid, Potatas Bravos, Garlic Prawns, a lovely Mixed Salad and a bottle of decent Rioja for each couple. Desserts were a choice of Tiramasiu or Pears in Red Wine. We had the former and utterly was spectacular.

This was a fantastic meal, but there was another unexpected bonus. Years ago, we used to frequent the Bla Bla Music Bar on the Main Street, which was run by the wonderful Mercedes. We've seen her a couple of times since the bar closed, but we were delighted to find her working at El Meson - a reunion with an old friend that made the visit even more special.

As I said......THANK YOU to all of you who recommended El Meson. It's not in the most picturesque spot, but it's a genuine Spanish bar with locals in the majority, but with a really special service and we will be going back for sure.

Tomorrow is a repeat visit to El Posito......more reports to come.

Hi Disorderly, Well looks like we have another convert. As I mentioned before, if folk can get past the setting and ignore that, then they will be delighted with the food and service. If this place was down on the front you would be struggling to get a seat.

PS, I'm not a sweet person ( No puns please ), But I can recommend the pears in red wine.

Can I make a suggestion that perhaps one evening you try Pollensa town or the walled town of Alcudia?
Lots of great restautants in either, and makes for a change of scenery.
Ten minutes to either location either driving or in a taxi.
One other suggestion is to try the Mirador de la Victoria restaurant, near Bonaire in Alcudia.
Amazing mountain restaurant with views over the bay of Pollensa, and one of the best places to see the sunset in the north of the island.
If you have cars, then it really is worth the drive.

So glad you enjoyed El Meson Disorderly ..it is a firm favourite of ours..wonderful welcome at all times from Mercedes .consistently good food and nothing is too much trouble if you want to swap or change anything on the menu..and such good value for money too oh yes and the sangria is pretty special too

Well, Belladonna, you won't be disappointed. Our meal, with a jug of Sangria and two lots of Tapas Set Meals which included two bottles of wine, and we added Espressos at the end, came to 100.10 Euros for four people, and frankly more than we could eat.

As Cath said, it's astonishing value and great service too.

Thanks Lovemallorca for those great ideas. We have just three nights left and we will stay in the port, but next trip we will do as you suggest and taxi to Pollensa and Alcudia, so will keep your suggestions with great thanks. This Forum is really such a help. Thanks all.

El Posita here we come.........

El Posito was fantastic again. I had the Seafood Stuffed Peppers and John Dory with Garlic. Absolutely delicious. The others had Lamb a Chops and Tuna, all judged superb.

El Posito, to its eternal credit, sells Baron de Lay at just 16 Euros a bottle, which shows a commendable lack of greed! The usual friendly and efficient service was rounded off with a good chat with Sparky.

Had a return visit to El Meson for lunch today and we're not disappointed. Great value Pizza, Chicken Toasty, Pork Sandwich and Pa Amb Oli with two rounds of Cola, each with free tapas meant a cost of just 47 Euros for the six of us.

Return visit to Martin at Eolo tonight......this holiday is going too quickly!

Well, I guess that this will be the final "instalment" of our wonderful break in PP as I'm now writing this at home....BOO!

Thursday night at Eolo was great. Martin had just started a new Iberico Ham and it was sensational. As we now tend to do, we started with Mixed Tapas supplemented with the Ham (and one of the group had the Tomato soup, which was apparently excellent).

As a "special" there was Roast Suckling Pig and one of my sons had that. It was cooked excellently and the flavour suggested that it was towards the end of "suckling", but nevertheless very tasty. Top, marks from me went to the Chicken Escaldums. Essentially it's a Mallorcan peasant dish, produced in a terracotta dish and is a simple stew consisting of Chicken drumsticks cooked with potatoes, vegetables in a really tasty sauce. It's absolutely fantastic. Also brilliant at Eolo is the Lamb Eolo, another slow cooked single pot dish that is really tasty. As I've said before, Martin (formerly of La Goleta) has takern his chef with him and the food is right up there with the best in the port. I highly recommend that you give it a try.

And finally........our holiday would not be complete without the last traditional night at Brisa Marina and our favourite Marques de Riscal Reserva Tinto. Two of us had the Fish Soup, which was absolutely delicious, whilst the others shared Iberico Ham, Chicken Croquettes and Stuffed Mussels. Mains were John Dory, cooked three ways. One had a whole fish, another fillets, and a third fillets in a prawn sauce and all fantastic. Three of us shared the "blind" Paella. I'm quite sure Brisa Marina is THE place to go for Paella. Anyway, we all enjoyed it.

All went according to plan on the way home, apart from an air traffic delay of about 40 minutes. I'm ashamed to say that Burger King provided the sustenance at the airport......but it's better bet than the "rip off" sandwiches sold elsewhere at Palma airport. How on earth can you justify 3.60 Euros for a bottle of water? It costs less to run the hire car! LOL.

We had a little poll between the six of us, placing our top 5 restaurants that we visited, and the results were:-

1) Stay
2) El Posito
3) Zarlales and C'an Josep (joint)
4) Brisa Marina
5) Siller

So that's it for another year. Just like a Tom & Jerry cartoon....."That's All Folks!"
