We are considering hiring Villa Fullos for a week in Autumn.
Has anyone any exoerience of this Villa?

Hi Kezza, I would suggest that you have a word with the agent you are dealing with or the owner if you are going directly. They will be able to supply you with any information you require and put your mind at rest should you have any worries.
I hope you have an enjoyable stay. Autumn is such a lovely time of the year to visit.

Thank you Eleanor or your advice and kind wishes.:)
I have had a chat with the UK Agents for Sealand (from whom we first hired in 1995 when they first started - a villa not far from the Golf Course - and 1996 - a Villa in the Colonya Valley ) and everything seems fine. The staff are really helpful.
There was a gap of a few years and then we became regular visitors mainly in Autumn and have also hired from Villa Select and Villa Parade - mainly villas in a rural setting within a few minutes drive of Pollenca.
Just wondering whether any members had any personal knowledge/ experience of the Villa before we book it.

I know what you mean Kezza, there is something so reassuring about having the opinions of people with first hand knowledge. I think we all worry that agents/owners will sugar coat descriptions to get a booking. I am sure everything will be good and hope you have a great holiday. :D

Cheers Sparky :)
Thanks for the wishes for a great holiday.
Whilst I always do my research and have very good vibes about this one and am very happy with what the Agents tell me and have been happy with their service in the past it would be reassuring to have a first hand viewpoint.

Sparky, I really do not think that owners would 'sugar coat' descriptions to get a booking!
We have many friends who own and rent out their properties and of course as owners we rent too. I think you will find that like us the majority of owners bend over backwards to ensure all is well for the people who rent. Certainly our villa is more than home from home. We add to it every single year and take on board any positives and negatives to ensure that our holiday makers have a good time and enjoy their stay in our property. We are constantly up-grading, changing, adding to etc etc - I can not obviously speak of rental companies and how they operate. When dealing directly with the renter a relationship is built up. It is the owner who has to deal with any problems whilst the renter is there and of course after they return. What will suit one person may not be to another's liking.
It certainly would not be in any ones interest to attempt to 'sugar coat a description to get a booking'! That would be very short sighted.

I'm afraid I cant agree totally with you Eleanor, in the real world this type of thing does happen, and it happened to us, but I agree anyone renting out through the forum would always be aiming to try to please as repeat business is so important and also reviews on here would certainly effect peoples likelihood to rent properties. But companys are slightly different although they still rent out individuals property for them, and its right for Kezza to be Cautious, we rented a place in Gotmar through a company that is no longer trading, it was nothing like the description and was certainly sugar coated, we refused to stay in it and stood on the doorstep till they moved us to another one, which luckily they did, thats why I always get as many views and reports for where we stay now.

I'm afraid your comment made me bristle a little Sparky! Private owners - as sws states - rely a lot on repeat bookings or referrals and definately try to state exactly what is there in order notto have to deal with clients problems due to misrepresentation. Companies are sometimes a little different I agree, but please don't think that it helps private owners in any way!

Before this gets out of hand we are talking about companies, Elanour mentioned private renting, kazza is renting from a company, I cant speak for Sparky but she did say agents/owners.

As you say SWS you rented via a company and as I said I can not comment on how they operate. I stand by what I have said that it really doesn't matter where a owner advertises be it this site or any other the outcome would be the same. That being that it would NOT be in the interest of the owner to 'sugar coat the description to get a booking'. The majority of owners who advertise privately like us probably do not keep to just one site so a threat of being 'shown up' on this site is not so relevant. Repeat business and recommendation IS relevant and important. The renting of a property has to be considered 'a business' and as such to sugar coat, as Sparky put it is, as I said short sighted. There are many many people who advertise their properties on this site and I think the majority would be quite upset and insulted by the remark as so much effort is put in. I am sorry you had a bad experience - as you said the company is no longer in operation - perhaps that says it all!

Posts crossed I think Eleanor

I have always booked with the owner and will not use a holiday company as I think when you talk to someone who owns the place they usually tell you every single thing good and bad. I think owners are ok usually it's the companys you need to be aware of especially if the sales staff are on commission.

Just to stick up for the Villa companies who advertise on here, I and others who I know have used them many times without problems, but as Kazza has done its just as important to ask for as many views as possible when choosing

For heavens sake, i did not say anyone was sugar coating anything, i merely said that we worry about it and that it is reassuring to have first hand experience and knowledge when making our choices, i also told Kezza that i was sure it would good. What is so wrong with that?:mad:.

I agree with eleanor and bella that as owners who advertise and take bookings directly it would be akin to shooting youself in the foot to 'sugar coat' descriptions to get a booking. Looking at it from the other side of the coin it works both ways. Most people treat properties they have rented with respect and leave them clean and tidy.I know some horror stories of those who haven't! When you build up a rapport with people , those people know that the owner will know how they have left a property, as opposed to letting via agents where you haven't a clue who will be going to stay

Absolutely Debz. The majority of people who we have rented to have been great and have looked after the property. I truly believe this is because we talk directly and we get to know each other. Having said that we have had a few that we would not wish to accept again. People break things and hope it isn't noticed. We actually had a set of curtains taken from a bedroom once. The renters denied taking them and tried to blame the cleaner! We had a phone line but hid our phone only to later learn when the bill came in that a particular renter had plugged a phone in which they had got from somewhere, and used the line. We no longer have a phone line! This incident happened when a rental company had 'control'. We have never charged a deposit but from next year intend to do so a a safe guard. You would be surprised just how many renters forget to return the keys. Each time this happens we have to have the locks changed. This all costs money. The good renters won't mind paying a deposit - those who question perhaps should be questioned! So as Debz says - it isn't all one way - To build a good relationship between owner and renter can only be beneficial to both sides.

Absolutely Debz, i have been shown the state some places are left in i don't understand how people can do that sort of thing, i always treated places i rented with more respect than my own.
Can i just reiterate that i did not say owners or anyone "sugar coated" anything, once again one of my posts has been twisted into something i did not say.

My method of selecting a villa is to obtain brochures from 2/3 of the Companies who advertise on here so that I can get a wide comparison of villas/prices which suit our needs - which vary as to how many of the family are in our party, prepare a short list, research those in more detail (occasionally including speaking to the Agents ) and make a choice.
I sometimes ask whether anyone has any personal experience of a particular villa - but to date no one ever has.
On those occasions when I have needed further information on a Villa from the Agents they have never let me down as their answers have been accurate.
At the end of the day it's down to me to make an informed decision.
As Fullos seems to tick all the boxes for our needs this year I will probably go ahead with that.

Hope you have a great time Kezza, at the end of the day its always down to your own decision taking everything into account, I am sure it will be great and if you like you can do a review of the villa to help people in the future :)
