Hi everyone.

I'm a Scot living in Brisbane, Australia. I'm having a bit of a career break and will move to Puerto Pollensa in September for seven months. I used to holiday in Spain a lot when I lived in the UK and have done a significant amount of hiking around Mallorca. When I moved to Australia five years ago I didn't think I'd ever see Spain again, but when I decided to catch up with family and old friends in October last year I opted for Puerto Pollensa in order to avoid Scotland! I had such a great time I decided to live in Mallorca this year during the winter, I've always wanted to experience Mallorca in the winter.

Looks like I'm gonna have to re-acclimatise myself, I'm gonna experience three winters in a row! Back to Spanish classes for me in the mean time, I've forgotten most of what I used to know...

Steve.

Hi Steve it's great to have you here on the forum and i am sure we will bump into each other next winter, if we can help in any way when you come here just ask.:D

Welcome to the forum Brisbane. Our son and his wife came over to the UK from Oz last year for a holiday and we had a week with them in PP, our daughter in law was born in bred in Sydney but absolutely loved everything about PP.:)

Welcome to the forum, Steve in Brisbane! And do let us know how you get on when you arrive in September. We all love hearing how people get on when they make the move - permanently or temporarily! :)

Thanks Catalina.

I started my Spanish classes this week and I'm going to study right up to my departure from here in Oz. I know I'll get by without knowing or speaking the lingo but I've always wanted to be able to have a conversation with a local in their own tongue and I have tried to make an effort in the past. I'll be doing more things than your average holidaymaker too, so that's even more of an excuse to go for it (I'm trying to justify my career break, which has already begun!!). I intend to spend a couple of weeks in the Canaries during January next year too, where I'll meet up with my parents, so I'll be passing through the mainland as well...

Steve.

Hello and welcome Alancm, i am glad you enjoy the forum and PP, looking forward to hearing more from you :D.

Hello

My name is Anne and we love PP, hoping to come out with family in July:)

Hi, It's HikerBiker from New York, saying hi to all and looking forward to re-aquainting with old friends on this forum. I was supposed to return to PP back in 2008 but was diagnosed with cancer, had surgery and was forced to curtail travel for a while. I've since recovered, my prognosis is good and we're hoping to return to PP in September 2012-- for a week sandwiched between three days in Madrid and three days in Barcelona.
Wishing all a great 2012,
Hiker :)

Hi HikerBiker and welcome back. Glad to hear you have got your health back and will be fit enough to return to PP :D.
