The broadband in my apartment is costing me almost 60 Euros a month through Telefonica. As I'll probably be out for 7 weeks this year it's costing me over 100 Euros a week!

Has anyone found a really effective, genuinely reliable mobile 'switch on/switch off' alternative that guarantees a genuinely fast connection in the apartment?

I have added some more details to the mifi thread
It looks like 4G and a dongle could be a good alternative to traditional phone line ADSL or IB red internet for occasional use as long as the signal is OK.

I think if you go into the Movistar shop in the port, Telefonica now do a switch of package.

Go to Confort and ask for Miguel he will sort you out with IB Red

Costs around 30euros per month and you can switch it off in the winter

I'll second this , great service and confort has come out to us several times to sort any problems even when we have been in the UK . My husband just emails Miguel gets a quick response and is sorted very quickly with no charge most of the time , they are fantastic .

Not sure how fast you need but if just for internet browsing and emails etc then the cheapest IB red as already mentioned looks to be about 34 euros a month with tax etc and would be OK.
That is about 402 euros a year so about 57 euros for each of your 7 weeks if worked out that way.

If you bought a 4G mobile phone network dongle or mifi you can easily eat up 50 euros of top up data in a week if a few people are browsing the internet and it is a faffing around topping up etc although you can use that on other holidays as well which can be useful if you travel a lot.

Conectabalear is another provider similar to IB red.

Even cheaper when you switch it off in winter months ...... You pay a set up premium in order to enable this service but pays for itself in a year

Also not everywhere in the port has good 3G or 4G ...... I know where Graham is and signal can be dodgy

We have cheapest Ibred and copes with 2 or 3 people browsing and emailing simultaneously
