Window condensation

We have lovely big windows which overlook the bay, but they are only single glazed and at this time of the year we get alot of condensation on the inside.

I have found a lovely "boy's toy" which solves the problem. We bought a Karcher Electric window vac, and you just run it down the window like a scraper and it sucks the condensation off the window. Does the job perfectly!

I got it at the Ferreteria Plommer in Port Alcudia and wish I had bought it years ago.

Seen them advertised and sounds v posh.

Wouldn't a squeegee and a piece of kitchen roll do the same thing for a fraction of the price though...............oh, and a bit more effort ?!

Yes, the ad I saw them on showed them doing shower enclosures and tiles etc............may have to get one myself now !!!!

AK thank you for the tip - can you say how much they cost please - I am seriously considering getting one.
Our apartment overlooks the marina and even with double glazing, every morning between December and February I spend the first 30 minutes of every day with a blade, kitchn paper and towel removing the condensation from our windows. The windows are in both the lounge and master bedroom and are floor to ceiling and total approx 6m wide, so it is not a job I look forward to.
I am sure by the time I add up how much I spend on kitchen roll, electricity, washing powder etc etc after one winter I MUST be making a saving ! LOL

What a brilliant sounding tool and it may even persuade Mr UATW to do the job ??

We have very large windows too, so a kitchen towel would be impractical, it would take forever. The device lifts about half a litre of water from just our bedroom windows, which is half a litre less to cause mould etc.

I aslo bought " a bucket on a belt" for help cleaning the windows, but then that is another story!

I saw a window cleaner using a natty device in the high street and he told me it was called "bucket on a belt". Basically it is a plastic holster on a belt in which you can store the wiper blade and applicator. If you put a small amount of water in it then it keeps the applicator wet, and it keeps your hands free so you can go up ladders easier. With windows like ours you need every trick in the book to reduce the effort. I bought it online from a window cleaner supplier for about a tenner.

AK sorry for the delay in responding - yes I did invest and it is brilliant. I have also used it on the shower screen and it works really well. It is compact and so easy to use - Mr UATW has even had a go ! I regularly get 3/4 of a litre of condensation off each morning which will be a huge help to keep the dreaded black mould spots at bay.

Maybe it is psychological, but I am sure that when we go to bed the air isn´t as damp.

Glad to be of service. I agree that the room doesn't feel so damp. It is a good investment, those mould spots can be very expensive.

Just got ours out of the box after about 10 months only to find the battery won't charge. Anyone else had similar problems?
