Have just checked and it is now definitely on their website as 21/22 April.

I'm really chuffed for all those of you who will be able to make it - sadly I won't be joining you as we are going back the weekend before (school holidays! - don't want Mr Gove to fine me...) We missed it last year too... Have a fantastic time, everyone, anyway - we had an absolute blast the one time we did manage to get there. I'd say it was a memorable occasion but tbh it was all a bit of a blur... in a good way!

Any updates on the number of exhibitors, or any changes to the format, admission cost etc?

Sparky you will have to drink my share that should not cause you to much of a problem !!

Thanks Sparky - it's going to be a a very long hard April 21st - I do the 36 whites first, then a second lap on the roses, then generally pass out before the reds (only joking, I wouldn't be so uncivilised............)

Favourites last year? C'an Vidalet, Mortitx, Binigrau (their rose was to die for, I carted some back to the UK in my suitcase!)

Think we need to use the Ruta de Tapeo as a practice run..... thats only 15 participating bars yet we need to visit 36 tables.....and of course if you try the white, rose and red that makes about 90 wines !!! hmmmmm
Line the stomach with a good paella or sopas mallorcan before the visit and a pint of milk perhaps.
;)

I'm already in training - my own personal Olympics!

Sparky, it looks like Macia Batlle may feel they are too big and/or famous to condescend to participate in the Wine Fair?

I know that this was the attitude of Jose Luis Ferrer in the past, but then they realised that sales were down because there were so many new producers making better wine than theirs, and they no longer had a near monopoly - so I think last year was the first year they had a stand at the Fair, so people could really see what mediocre stuff they produce! The stand was staffed by pleasant young people, but it was all 'top show' as we say in Newcastle (or 'fur coat and no knickers' if you like!)

In the end, Ferrer has not caught up yet with the likes of C'an Vidalet, Mortitx, Binigrau etc, and the more the small producers can get their stuff into Mercadona, Eroski, Carrefour etc, the more Ferrer's sales will fall.

I will of course taste their products next week, and I hope to be pleasantly surprised, but so far they represent the past of Mallorcan wine-making, not the future!

Thanks for the info Mopezone, very interesting reading. I only drink white wine with ice (coffee in the mornings though ;)) and am happy to quaff most house wines but like a "good" wine with dinner (no ice of course ) and do love Can Vidalet but sometimes find it a bit heavy, so will go for the MB for a change, also like a nice Albarino. Whatever i choose has to be very well chilled though :D.

There seems to be a fault with the site I put a post here and its gone can anyone throw any light on it please.

Its probably been removed as it wasn't anything to do with Puerto Pollensa, Snowy.

Thanks Cherylbb that's what I thought also however do you not think a pm or email would have been nice to explain rather than just removing it and not a word.

Still all going to wine festival this year have a great time, I am sorry to miss it however I will be enjoying another wine festival on the main land with the running of the horses.

Snowy, I suppose that as you've been a member since 2008, they think that you know the rules by now & don't need to be given the reason in a pm.
Enjoy your wine festival & horses!

M.zone - I would expect it is nothing whatsoever to do with the Macia Battle (spelling?) people being 'condecending' as you suggest!!!
Just a free choice of whether they take part or not.
By the way, MB is just fine. Good value and quite adequate on the occasions I have chosen to drink it. Also very popular with many members of this furum over the years.

I know i don't really need it but i am going to have a "tasting training session" tonight on the Ruta del Tapeo :D......definitely won't be spitting any of it out though ;);).

lol, Love Macia Batle too, in fact as we always choose local wines when we can, we must really get over one year for the Fair!
