Second goal was a cracker! :)

I've not seen every game over the last few seasons, but that performance was certainly up there with the best I've seen Mallorca play. Particularly before the first goal they were totally dominant, total control all over the park but particularly impressed with the high pressing that you rarely see in Spanish football.

The highlights, including that cracker of a second goal from Dani Rodríguez (who was excellent throughout) is on the link in my previous post.

The second leg is this Sunday at 7 pm CET (6 pm UK time). Coverage of where you can watch can be found here:

Spain applies the away goals rule the same way as they do in European matches (unlike the UK where they don't apply in play-off matches). So it will only be extra time/penalties if Albarcete win 2-0 at end of normal time and then it stops like that through extra-time.

Deportivo de La Coruña hold a 3-2 lead in the other semi-final against Málaga (who were relegated from La Liga last season). Second leg for that one is in Málaga on Saturday evening.

The finals are next midweek and on Sunday week. Who plays where for this does depend on the results. Albercete will be at home for the 2nd leg irrespective of who they play if they get through. Similarly Deportivo will be away in 2nd leg if they get through.

In Segunda B, Atlético Baleares are going through the complex runners up system for promotion (having lost on away goals winners system). They drew their first leg of the semi-final in Melilla 0-0 last Sunday. The 2nd leg is in Palma on Sunday with a 6 pm CET kick off. (5 pm UK). Coverage of this game is on IB3. They will have another 2 legs to play on the following 2 Sundays if they get through.

Who says football was a winter sport?

So Real Mallorca sneak it 2-1 on aggregate. Not as good a performance as on Thursday but still looked threatening tonight and had opportunities to score but then again so did Albacete. Great free-kick which they scored from (not quite sure what happened to the end of the wall!).

First leg of the final is at Deportivo on Thursday evening (9 pm CET, 8 pm UK). the second leg is next Sunday evening at the Iberostar, 9 pm/8 pm.

In his interview after the game, Vicente Moreno, the Mallorca coach, said "We are very happy". Really? :)

Managed to catch the game on IBTV whilst in our apartment.
Feel they will need to raise their game against Deportivo but they do have the quality to win
Come on Mallorca.

Lost the first leg 2-0 last night in Deportivo. Managed to watch the last hour from my seat in Ona Bar as they had it on in Bar Tecun.
Looked second best all game. Second leg on Sunday in Palma.

Yes Deportivo looked very good, they needed the away goal though, they were down to 10 men for a lot of the game weren’t they? Still home game to come, see what they can do

Yeah sending off just after the first goal. Horrendous tackle tbh and never a doubt a sending off.

I'm not 100% 2nd goal was fully over the line. Understand why no VAR but cannot understand why they don't have the goal line technology at that level.

Got my tickets for Sunday :D

1-0 halftime, all Mallorca

2-0, 2-2 on aggregate, stunning free kick, Messi would be proud of that

Fantastic, 3-0 on the night throughly deserved, on to the final

OMFG. Sorry. What a game. Watched it in Bar Tecan with a number of locals and expats.
Three superb goals and a brilliant performance. Mallorca were well on top tonight and the win was thoroughly deserved.
Vamos los Bermallones

Fantastic evening. Brilliant atmosphere. Great free kick. Worldy 3rd and that save from Reina! Best €25 spent in a long time.
