They used to do it like that in the Hostal Bahia - tasted like they'd used a Cherry Liqueur but it may have changed - but I'm off topic now - so on with the Challenge.

Sorry but on my list I completely forgot to mention The Codfather! My children love a sunday lunch (not for me on a red hot day!) and the one they had at Codfather was fabulous. An adult one is 10 euros for starter (salad or soup), main - roast beef or half a chicken and real veg! Cabbage, broccoli, carrots, roast potatoes, mash potatoes, mash swede AND yorkshire pud, all on one plate! Also pudding and glass of wine/beer included. The kids version was 5 euros for a half size portion and ice cream, there was loads of food!
Must stop talking about food now as I'm feeling hungry.....

That sounds yummy! The Codfather has always been somewhere we've been meaning to go and after hearing your comments our family will deffo be frequenting this place!!
We've got 2 little ones and they would love a nice roast on holiday.

As you say another little gem! Pepe looks after you very well. It's changed hands a quite a bit over the years, but Pepe always seems to return to run the place. Directly across from the Flora apartments, as mentioned in-expensive, huge portions. I used to go a lot when the kids were younger, i'm going over to PP this Fri

Has anyone come back recently who wants to add to this post. I am going on 12 August so when I get back will post my 14 nights of eating out, although seeing as we go with children we don't go to some of the more traditional restaurants but people with children may well find where we go interesting/give them ideas

We've just come back & our meals consisted of a mixture of eating out in the evening, a few lunchtime Menu del Dia, and a few meals cooked at home, so here goes:
Evenings Out:
First night is always at Coral for Sardines & Tumbet. It's near to our apartment & we've been going there for years. It has got rather expensive for what you get but it gets us into the holiday mood.
Other nights we went to (in no particular order...)
Stay - for a fabulous location to view the fireworks. I always have the Parillada de Pescado (mixed fish) - a little underdone this time. My son had steak which was excellent. & we love the place..
La Lonja - not bad but service was a bit off for a quality restaurant. They have seats outside which I wasn't expecting but the view is nothing on the one from Stay.
Tots - for a cheap & cheerful & pretty good set meal & a litre of sangria (quite weak!) between 2
Can Ferra - for a great relaxed Paella
Naciente (twice) - this was a great find & new to us. I'd been put off by the advert for Pizza & Pasta but their tapas are excellent - 2 per person is plenty (the owner wouldn't let us order more!) - we tried Tumbet, Prawns with aioli, Sepia (Cuttlefish), calamares, boquerones (like whitebait) amongst others
Os Cachelos - Galician restaurant in the square with tables outside near the Church - other new one for us & an excellent set meal for 14.50 (excludes wine) (has good vegetarian options too)
Lunches
La Vall - cheap & cheerful but a bit greasy
Bodega d'es Port in Puerto Alcudia - a real favourite & excellent menu for about 9 euros
l'olivera - on the front - good mixture of sardines, omelettes, burgers, grilled meats etc. plus their set menu looked excellent but we didn't get to try it. the Tapas Bar next door (was Eu Moll games) had great Pa Amb Oli too.
Neptuno - more Pa Amb Oli
Evenings in included excellent fillet steak from Caprabo. We tried Hiper but their steak wasn't up to much.

Los Zarzales. I've followed the debate on this place with interst and tried it for the first time this year. Anywhere that can serve those broad beans with mint has GOT to be included n the list.
Friday Night
A VERY specal evening. Dinner at 9am by the pool at Son Brull followed by live 'dinner jazz' till past midnight. Fantastic local chardonnay, amazing music, fabulous food, horrendous bill.
Saturday lunchtime
Tapas at L'Almirant on the font.
Monday night
La Llonja. For food and service, this place is edging out Stay. AND one of the most charming waitresses has defected. Choccies aren't as good though!!!
Tuesday lunchtime
Balaixa bistro in CSV. No cats!
Wednesday night
Another treat - Es Convent in Alcudia. Amazing location, attentive service, fab food. Try the bannoffi thingy for dessert - melts in the mouth
Thursday night
Cantonet at the top of the steps in the old town. Indulge yourself with the specialist ravioli.
Friday night
Run out of money.

Thanks for the replies, lots of places there we haven't tried yet. Will probably give Naciente another try this year, it was only the business over not getting our change back that put us off but the food was lovely

Graham, a couple of new ones there for me,thanks. Also VERY interested in your views on Son Brull. We are over again in October for 2 weeks and intend to stay there probably a Thursday and Friday night for a treat and to listen to the Jazz night. I have a feeling that its worth the piggy bank being broken open for - hope Im right!8)

Son Brull is a class act in terms of location, style and cooking. Is it expensive? Well yes, in terms of PP but definitely worth it. And the jazz nights are simply heavenly.
The service is a bit hit and miss. Some of the waiters (no - most - of the waiters) struggle with English, but they do so with the utmost charm. You can also wait forever to get the first drink. But once they hits their stride it's pretty good.
I guess the only problem is that it's got everything you'd expect from a Relais et Chateau (including the price) but the service just misses by that important little bit.

day1-the new tex mex on the pinewalk. a great restaurant in a fantastic location. does not look like a new restaurant, it blends perfectly into its surroundings. great food which made me want to go back for more.

Sorry guys but please keep this post to being genuine recommendations of where you'd choose to go or have been to (& enjoyed). If the post degenerates I will, sadlly, have to close it. New members may think this is overkill but we have been there before. Not a pretty sight.

I thought Bar Katy was just a drinks place - what kind of food do they serve?
El Posito sounds good. Every time we visit PP I have it on my list but so far we've never been. Will definitely try it next time.
