Are the Pizzas at Little Italy any good?

The beauty of PP is that there is plenty of choice for everyone. Pizzas are great at Casa Vila and Tolo's and I'm sure many other restaurants. I fully understand that people might have had a bad experience at Little Italy, this can happen anywhere even the very best restaurants. Where this has led to people not returning this seems to make perfect sense what I don't understand, is why some people complain how awful it is but apparently keep going back. Obviously the onus is on the restaurant to offer customer service as a matter of course but perhaps those who seem to always suffer dreadful service , but insist on going back, perhaps should look at themselves and the part they might play in it ? I love Little Italy but once experienced what I felt was favouritism to customers arriving after me, however when I discussed this with them they were mortified and the service has never been anything but great ever since. If you really hate the place then stop going, all the more opportunities for the rest of us to eat there.

I as many others have voted with our feet and never go in the place so that answers your question as to why people go back We don't ! We are just relaying past experience so that people are informed as to what they can expect. And are not left thinking that the service in Little Italy is a true reflection of PP and the people who work here.

The reason we went back was quite simple, any place can have it's off days, it's a busy spot, but as others point out it's also a fantastic spot for adults to sit and relax while kids enjoy the beach. I'll never "write a place off" after one visit. As they happily sit big tables, we went back as a family group. The experience was exactly the same as the previous visit.
However, there are indeed loads of other places and everyone is free to go and have the LI service experience for themselves.

Yes, the location is indeed superb - perhaps one of the best in PP. And as you rightly point out, along with others posting on this thread, those who made return visits had pretty much the same "service experience as on previous visits".:)

The forum provides the opportunity to feedback personal experience and we all then have the right to vote with our feet. From what I can see Fils you have contributed 6 times to this thread which rather than relaying a personal experience seems more like a vendetta. I don't know if you last went a day, a month or a year ago but surely things might have changed since your last visit ? All the restaurants in the port deserve a fair and balanced critique. There is plenty of support for Little Italy and enough to now let newbies to visit and make up their own minds.

I think you will see my views are shared by many on here its not a Vendetta. It just pains me that such a prime location is abused. Lets face it a trained chimp could sell Pizza from that location . it has huge passing trade my concern is the reflection it has on the port with visitors. so no not a Vendetta but a genuine concern for a town i happen to feel passionately about. So again not a vendetta just a concern that many people will leave PP thinking that's the level of service or lack of they can expect.

OK guys i think valid points have been made from both camps on this one and maybe you will just have to agree to disagree.

My personal opinion is that i don't think it's ever acceptable for restaurant staff to be rude to customers but equally neither is is acceptable for customers to be rude to staff, i have witnessed both, but far more of the latter and it makes me very sad :(.

Never had anything but great service there. But perhaps that's because I treat the staff with a bit of respect.

Funny how it works that way.

Sparky

That last post inferred that others with a different opinion do not treat the staff with respect - is that OK with you?

Again I agree 100%. I've been to PP ~12 times, and there have been some great dining experiences. Unfortunately our two visits to Little Italy were not great ones.

We used to frequent Mistral a lot as for a couple of years we rented one of the apartments above the restaurant. We would often go straight from the beach and have lunch on the jetty. The staff at times could be very temperamental! They did an ok job but on occasion smiles were few and far between. I always rather like the challenge of winning a 'grumpy' waiter round. It usually doesn't take more than asking them how they are or for a recommendation off the menu. It works both ways too. I've seen waiters go out of there way to be friendly and not getting any reaction from the customer. Some waiters are by the very nature of personalities more friendly than others, others are rather lacking in the charisma stakes. However to completely slate staff at a restaurant that you no longer go to does seem very unfair. Oh and whenever we go it's packed with locals!

Graham, i think you are wrong to suggest that the members who have not been treated well at LI have been disrespectful to the staff.

Please can you all stop with the personal remarks, i don't want to have delete posts but i will do if it doesn't stop, thank you in advance for your cooperation.

That's great for you graham, unfortunately others who have also given them the same respect have found them reciprocating.

This is not an isolated case of poor customer service.

We went to Hell's Kitchen today for lunch and had a great experience, same at Stay, Ca'n Panxo and Ill'a Dor.

Just trying to be positive about the restaurant. Anyone can have an off day. Clearly some have had problems there. But I stand by my (generalised) view that if you're pleasant to waiters then they tend to be pleasant back to you.

And i stand by the request that i have already made... please just agree to disagree.

Yes i am now asking for you to show me a little bit of respect :(.

I find all of this exasperating!
We have been probably 20+ times. Every time is the same comme ci comme ca experience, which we try to laugh off as it is exactly where our spot is on the beach and the most convenient with a little person. We are never rude even when we are completely ignored for staff to fuss over others. To say that it is us that gains poor service is really unfair.
I very rarely post as I feel intimidated by strong opinions but as a family who have visited once a summer, every year for 6 years,I feel I can now have my warranted say!

Booble, please don't ever feel that you can't post your opinion, you have as much right as any other member to share your experiences :).
