Three plus mum now back on nest tucking into something

Yep, definitely looks like the empty nest syndrome! Hopefully it is the only flight we will have missed!

I see the storks are back at Rottenbach - to a very overgrown nest A lot of tidying up to do there as it all looks a bit overgrown!

Yep, spotted them early on today . Re the tidying up--- They have obviously never heard the saying " Never let the grass grow under your feet "

I'm really baffled! Like so many others I started visiting the Röttenbach web cam at the beginning of the year and watched with utter amazement the hatching and growing up of the chicks until they were full size. Now, I'm not a 'twitcher' but I can't understand why a pair of adult white storks have re-appeared on a chimney stack in central Germany on the 31st October? They should be enjoying themselves in the sun, sinking a few sangrias by now! Storks migrate in August/September. September, I think, was when I last spotted them. They used to fly to Africa to winter, but according to the web, many now fly to Portugal and Spain. It's all very well coming back to mow the lawn, but I am really baffled! Any twitchers out there that can explain?

You see , Mr stork said to Mrs stork, I think it's time we went off to warmer parts. She said " If you think I'm flying all that way after giving birth, you must be Raven mad. The last time I listened to you, we ended up at canary wharf. To which he replied " Okay, no need to crow on about it ".
At which point Mrs stork Swanned off leaving him feeling a right tit

Being german storks they may have come back early to put there towels on the nest.

It's that time of year again! The storks of Röttenbach are back!! Yes, I know it's not PP, but it did create a lot of interest last year on this thread. Although there are no eggs at the moment I seem to recall that last year the chicks (3 of them) hatched around the end of March? It makes fascinating viewing whilst we twiddle our thumbs waiting for the 'Forum' to get into it's 'here comes summer mode, if you know what I mean!

Yay the storks! I looked last week and there was no sign of them and the nest was looking very overgrown. I'm all excited now thanks jonsey

Looking forward to seeing this year's brood. I have also been watching the black vultures on the livecam pro site. Fascinating viewing, they seem to be given a dead sheep every few days and some days there's a cat which wanders into shot, waits for the vultures to move then has a go. Makes a change from watching the sparrows on the bird table!

Some cams come and go so best to check back to see the changes, watch out for the German beer cellar in the summer though if you are easily offended!

Just logged on and only a couple of sparrows and blackbirds pecking around...then suddenly a huge vulture landed at the back of the wood

I can't believe it! Just went to visit the 'new attraction' at the Vulture Park, pressed the 24hr playback option and there's a cat, a quarter of the size of the vultures, tucking into its meal alongside 2 or 3 of these massive birds. Brave fella!
