Can anyone recommend a Dry Cleaners

Hi, sometimes I am embarrassed by my posts – they are all “domestic” rather than pleasure!

Can anyone recommend a good dry cleaners – it doesn’t have to be local and it would be really helpful if the recommendation was from personal experience. The curtains in our house need cleaning – we have both heavy full length curtains and behind those an extremely fine lace/net type curtain which I am concerned about – they appear so delicate! They were specifically made to measure as our windows are on the large side and so they don’t have any cleaning labels attached. [Also due to the size and weight of the heavy curtains they wouldn’t fit in the washing machine and I just couldn’t bring myself to put the lace ones in a washing machine in case they came out in shreds!]

I have been putting this off, but its got to the stage where its time to bite the bullet! I believe it is quite expensive to get items dry cleaned plus I would hate anything to happen to them and so any recommendations would be brilliant. I have decided to get all the curtains done at once and I am hoping (possibly in vain) that I would get a discount for bulk cleaning!

The dry cleaners in alcampo are vey good, very reasonable and they have never yet ruined one of my tailored suits, which every other cleaner I've tried have!!

Don't know about acid burns but get yourself into the Smiley Cleaners in the parallel road up from Roger de Flor and speak to Don & Gigi (Sparky, are they still there ? )

They do send dry cleaning out (cos they don't do it themselves ) but they cetainly are well worth asking their advice.

Never used it myself but there is a dry cleaner/laundry in Medico Lopez. There are always beautiful evening dresses and the like that you can see through their window so I guess they must be a bit of a specialist. Might be worth talking to them.

LOL - All the time you own a property we have found it very rare to have a holiday as there always seems to be something which needs sorting or dealt with! We have been trying to have a holiday for years now but so far no luck!

As for the dry cleaners - We have used the Alcudia recommendation and all was well but it was for quite basic stuff. Good luck!

I think you are right Sparky with the name. A word of advice though,the old lady is prone to changing prices and I was not totally impressed with the clean on my sofa covers a few years back.

Casa Maria pressed my curtains - and I only asked for them to be pressed, not cleaned. The old lady was all smiles when I went in but said she couldn't name an exact price until she knew how long it would take and fool that I am, I thought it won't be that bad whatever it is. Wrong! When I went back she had morphed into a shark who charged me 50 euros (!!!!) to iron a pair of unlined M&S curtains that cost £100 in the first place!! I can report I was robbed and she will never get my business again. I have heard Alcampo is fine.

I agree, definitely avoid Casa Maria. Luckily a friend managed to get a price out of her for cleaning our sofa covers. Absolutely astronomical, again, almost the same price as buying new ones! How this lady keeps her business I will never know!
