Easter

I was hoping to visit PP over Easter but am unable to do so. My only alternative is to visit the week before Easter from the Monday until Good Friday. Could anyone tell me if there are events or fiestas on during that week?

Yes there are events on Thursday evening in Old town Pollensa. They re- enact the last supper and if you follow the procession around the town you will see various tableaux . Good friday the procession down the Calvario steps takes place at approx 9pm. I am sure you would enjoy your week anyway.

I assume most restuarants will be open by that week, with some open some closed for the Bank holidays?

The procession on Thursday - Maundy Thursday - starts about the same time as the Friday one - 2030/2100hrs. I almost prefer the Thursday one as not quiet so many people and the Last Supper table set up in the Plaza Major is lovely. Most places will be open from the weekend prior to Easter so all should be fine for a wonderful stay.

Can I also ask if there are any Easter traditions for younger children. We may be over with children who are at the age of enjoying easter eggs, but I dont think the Spanish do that so much do they? What do they have for childrens treats instead?

Abbess when we were in PP one Easter the shops were full of beautifully decorated chocolate bunnies I'm sure they would give little ones (and oldies) lots of yummy sickly pleasure

When we come over a Easter we buy bags of Lindt eggs at duty free and then hide them all round the apartment gardens and pool area despite the recipients now being 17 and 20

I have updated the Easter program here Events & Fiestas in Pollensa (Pollenca), Mallorca Majorca - March-April. Times etc. are based on last year's program but I don't think it is likely to change.

You can buy local easter eggs in both the supermarkets or bakers. Also if you go to Muller in Alcudia you can buy other makes,also chicks and coloured eggs etc. The main event on Maundy thursday is the market square close to the Club Cultural, I suspect they perhaps come along from the cloisters.

Does anyone know if the market will still be held on Easter Sunday in the town?
