Is it my eyes deceiving me or have they started work on the old el Ancla!

Over the past month or so there has been the odd day when a guy has been "knocking seven bells" out of the old fixtures but nothing apart from that. The sign either fell down or was knocked down when a lorry reversed into it last week but that was all. We were told by a neighbour that not much will be done this side of the autumn.

Maybe the workmen from the Romantic making use of the uninhabited space, as they get ready for the opening on 11/04/15.

No it looks like things have gone from the frontage, definitely looks different

Looks like the canopy of vines has gone and definitely some of the fixtures from inside have been put out on the terrace. I suppose they could just have enough time to demolish the place before the end of the month but then won't be able to do anything until the hotel closes at the end of the season.

Yes just checked again, as you say stuff outside now :( Hope they leave it tidy for the summer being right on the front there!

Just walked round for a nosey and there are half a dozen guys working away at pulling out all the fixtures, woodwork, doors and windows. Looks like they'll leave an empty shell tonight, who knows what tomorrow? You may well be spot on Sparkey in that they'll flatten the site before the building curfew...............Another bit of PP history bites the dust!

You're right about another piece of PP history biting the dust. Over the last 25 years I've been through some really bad times in my life and also some of the best and all the time the old place was the only thing that remained unchanged and now that's gone. A sad time indeed:(

Well That's our plan scuppered for BBQs on the Terrace to celebrate old times.
Grape vines gone.. No more ants falling in your Gin & Tonica.
Sad Sad Sad .
Oh Well Round the corner to carry on the FUN TIMES.....

I might be wrong but I'm sure it's the start of May. Building work can still
continue but not heavy or noisy work so no pile driving, loud cement mixers etc. Light works are allowed.

Oops, missed a page so didn't see Sparky's comment! Will get a black mark for treading on toes now!

Yes, as i understand it they can work internally but if anyone complains about noise or dust they are forced to close down.

Let me tell you, all of the above would have been preferable to the noise Roy&Myra used to make when they were in. People would consider it quite in comparison :D

PS, I recon Leo went as it was the only way he could think of to get rid of em

Very funny Pollensafan but please can we hold back on the personal comments now and just stick to the ongoing situation at the El Ancla building, thanks :D.

This is only a rumour but i was told last night that the owner of the building is going to give the place a quick make-over and it will re-open in a few weeks, the planned demolition will then happen at the end of the season.

Watch this space ;).

Not sure about quick makeover now, I passed yesterday and its totally gutted, down to bare bricks all windows ,fittings everything gone

I know it's been gutted and asked my "informant" if the owner would really spend what will have to be a substantial amount of money now, only to demolish it later in the year. He said that the guy is super wealthy so is not bothered about it, crazy isn't it .
