This place was shown on 'A New Life in the Sun' today, the programme was filmed in late Spring/early Summer 2017

The finca used to be a restaurant and I thought it looked like the location of a very popular restaurant several years ago - just off the road from PP to Pollenca, near the Euroski, lovely stone building with swimming pool but can't remember what it was called.

Now been bought by a chef/wife/daughter who had a well thought of Tapas restaurant in Northumberland and have sold up and moved to PP. The new restaurant will be on the ground floor and the family will live above. In today's programme they were trying out some of their Tapas recipes with staff from the Euroski next door.

easylife1 it used to be called Balaixa and was indeed a great place to go. Many a long lazy lunch spent there when my children were younger. Adults relaxed while the kids splashed around in the pool

Seems to have some decent reviews on Trip Advisor Looked very relaxed space to eat in

All the people they showed seemed to underestimate how long it would take to get their businesses open for customers

Balaixa - thanks for jogging my memory Debz. I went for lunch once when I was on holiday alone and the owners (then) looked after me very well. The food was delicious too.

I wish the new owners well. Look forward to seeing some reviews on the forum.

Now that certainly got the old PP forum livened up back in the day as I recall in its original format.

It was the modern day Marmite. You either loved it or hated it and boy did some hate it.

I loved the place.
Relaxed was an understatement.
It will be interesting to see if the latest incarnation can make a go of it.

Finca 49 October 18th 2018

Well, I am just delighted we found Finca 49! My husband and I visited there yesterday, for Sunday Lunch. What a total pleasure it was - a warm welcome from Clare and Steve, the owners, to begin with. We had a drink in the bar to start, with a complimentary dish of nibbles, which were delicious, so that was a good sign! We both had the steamed mussels to start, which were just so fresh-tasting and delicious. My husband had the steak dish, which came with caramelised onions and spicy feta cheese sauce. He was raving about it and delighted Clare by informing her that he'd been eating steak since he was 14 and this was quite possibly the best steak dish he had ever eaten! He was gutted that I wouldn't try it, but very rare steak is not for everyone! My chicken came with chimichurri sauce, salad and alioli and the most scrummy cassava fries. 'Normal' Sunday Roast options are also available. Then the desserts!! Oh my goodness, out of this world! I had the Lemon Meringue Pie, which was so lemony it just zinged on the tongue and my husband had the caramelised bananas in a rum butter sauce. I did have a taste of that one! Delicious doesn't do it justice. Both my husband and I strongly recommend you visit and make sure you book as this restaurant will become more and more popular, we can assure you of that! Tasteful decor, great ambience, friendly staff, and absolutely delicious food. What more could you possibly want?

That's good to hear, we'd watched a few of the episodes with interest as it was so close to our new pad. I'm not 100% sure about the style of Steve's cooking as it involves lots of unusual flavours, whereas I'm a bit boring like that....however will definitely visit and give it a try!

Well, as I say on a Sunday they do the usual Sunday lunch with roasties, yorkshire pud etc too, so something for everyone I reckon!

We loved it when it was the Garroverar or similar spelling! This must be over 20 years ago.
