Thanks Alcanadakid, however don't think they will pay out. It was my mistake and stupidity not to mention his medication.

Janey.

Don't give in too easily Janey. I didn't think my daughter had a chance but the Ombudsman was very sympathetic. It doesn't cost anything to use them

Definitely Janey - do not give up on the insurance....I know you have lots on your mind at the moment but when you things are sorted out a bit more you have to pursue them.
They will get out of it if they can...but please go to the ombudsman.
If you don't know what to do...private message me and I will help you all I can.

Thanks again. Haven't heard from them today, so will pursue them tomorrow.

Here's hoping...

Janey.

Janey, As someone who has suffered a number of blod clots to the brain, first of all try not to worry too much, your husband is in good hands, after a MRI scan i was operated on immediately and started a full recovery almost immediately! Don't worry about not being with him, he's heavily sedated and it would make little difference, i mean that in the nicest possible way.

As others are saying don't let the insurance co. fob you off, i've suffered high blood pressure for the 20 years i've been going to PP and never had to declare any medication i've been taking. They'll be trying to wriggle out on the "pre-existing medical condition" card don't let them.

Janey - Our thoughts are with you at this worrying time. It is a nightmare situation and its great to hear about Smiddy's positive experience. (so pleased all is well now Smiddy)

Another positive is all the really lovely people who are happy to help you - what a great bunch us human's are in tough times!!

Do please keep us informed of your husbands progress and lots of love.

Thank you all for your advice. Contacted the insurers this morning still reviewing the case. I explained my husband had become slightly worse and was now definitely having an MRI scan at the end of this week or beginning of next week. She asked if they could arrange flights and hotel would I be able to go, so waiting to hear.

Thank you to lollipop once again for all your support.

Janey.

Keeping everything crossed that he gets well soon, and insurance gets sorted out.

Just a thought - if the medication that your husband was on have nothing to do with either preventing a blood clot or anything to do with it, couldn't you use this as a basis for your argument.

EG - you could be on high blood pressure medication and not declare it to your insurance company but if you fall, break your leg and need treatment then they couldn't wriggle out of paying up because it wouldn't have made any difference if you had declared it or not.

Not sure if I have made myself entirely clear here but hopefully you will get my drift!

That sounds very positive from the insurance company. If I can help in anyway send me a PM also. I am involved in the criminal side of law but I have another daughter who is a lawyer and who almost went to work for the Ombudman. (Different daughter to the one who won her claim)

Once again, thank you all so much for your advice and kindness. The good news is, the Insurers will pay hospital bill, and pay for me to go over to fly back with him with medical assistance if needed and any hotel bills (when he is discharged).

Just got to hope he gets better now....

I cannot thank everyone enough for everything!!!

Janey x

That is good news, i am so glad your insurers have done the honourable thing eventually but wouldn't it have been nice if they hadn't put you through all that stress in the first place.

That's excellent news. All of us are wish you well and hopes that he recovers soon. I'm so glad that forum members are able to offer support in times like this. :)

Good news indeed Janey - I hope you can sleep a little easier now and that you worries are soon over

all the best

YesPollensa, it's a wonderful forum and one to be proud of. So glad I joined before going on holiday, although, I had been a member before, but hadn't posted for a while and forgot my pasword. The help, advice and kindness has been unbelievable and very much appreciated by myself and my family.

Good luck Janey. Do hope everything goes well from now on. I agree totally with Sparky. You really didn't need all the added stress from the insurance company but i'm pleased they have come good in the end. (may be an idea to get it in writing!!)

Also it is a warning for us all not to rely on the E111 - I can't remember the new name! I know my husband has said in the past that insurance is a waste of money but this is evidence that it is important.

Please do keep us up to date. Good luck.

So glad to hear about the insurance company doing the right thing. You, your husband and family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Not been able to offer any help, but so glad things are looking up for you. Fingers crossed everything keeps on improving for you both.:)
