Advice please from local forumites. What do you do about your phone set up over here in Pollensa? Obviously I cannot continue to use a UK mobile now that I am living here although I will have to continue paying the contract until it ends in a couple of months. should I then switch this to a pay as you go for use in the uk?
Over here is it best to also use a pay as you go until I can afford a full contract and who generaly offers the best deal for local calls, data and calls to the UK?

I used Movistar pay as you go for years with no trouble, i do have a contract now because i got a deal for internet/ TV/ landline and mobiles. They were helpful in the shop on C/Juan XX111.

We too have the Movistar package . Some reasonable deals available at the moment.

because Tangoman after a month they deem that you are no longer on holiday and so start to charge for roaming - the included under your plan is not unlimited

Is it just your provider that stipulates 1 month? if so who is it please/

I'm 02 and stay in PP for up to two months at a time. I can use my phone without roaming charges for at least that length of time and didn't realise there was a time limit and not for permanent use. I think the length of time probably varies between each provider.

On EE, straight from the on line chat..

"You can't be abroad more than 60 days in any 120 day period

To reword that, We will consider you have a stable link to the UK if spend a total of 60 days or more during any 120 day period within the UK, anymore than that and you may get charged, in any instance, we would let you know first"

So for a part timer I'll just get a Spanish Lebara SIM and stick it in an old phone just in case I need to get notifications (UPS, Eroski amongst other websites I used which require a Spanish phone no)

Mobile operators may apply what is known as a "fair use policy" to ensure that all roaming customers have access to and benefit from the "roam like at home" rules (i.e. regulated roaming services at domestic price) when travelling in the EU. Mobile operators may apply fair, reasonable and proportionate control mechanisms to avoid abusive use of these rules.

For further info Googlr Fair use and EU offical page

I know Three state that you must have a UK connection to you cannot use abroad for more than 30 continuous days.

Slightly off topic but for those that mentioned you are on a Movistar package (Fusion) you might want to check your bill this month as they have put their prices up by around 4% this month.

They introduced a package called Fusion #0 last year which is cheaper than the Contigno (sic?) packages by around €10 per month. Only difference is you have 2gb data on the phone rather than 5gb. The 50mb fibre package is €48 per month rather than €57.40.

You can only move onto the new package by dialling 1004 from your mobile - they can't do it in the shop or through the English email help address, although if you go into the shop with your phone they will help you around the Spanish bit so you can get through the English speaking operator.

Always found it funny that they offer and English speaking operator but to get to it you have to go through the Spanish operator.

Alcanadakid - I was told this about 4 weeks ago when I enquired before moving out here
