Have to agree Ru - it was a night to remember! Already had 3 recording companies wanting to sign us up to record our version of "You Don't Bring Me Flowers"! Streisand & Diamond eat your hearts out:) Who needs XFactor?

Lovely spending time with you both.

Gosh.....don't you just love nights like that! Glad you all enjoyed Nostalgia.:) -every town should have one!!:D

There is something quite unique about this place, certainly not your run of the mill Karaoke bar....I hate them!!
Look forward to buying your album when it is released:D

Or 'The Karaoke King's' as my daughters call it... But there's a lot more to Nostalgia than karaoke - live entertainment doesn't start until after 11PM in any case. We can report a couple of very pleasant meals here in April. Ross, the chef from Ca'n Pacienci, is now cooking here and he is introducing a few Thai dishes to the menu (he's married to a Thai) - we were told that by the autumn there would be quite a few more choices. Currently he is offering a Thai beef salad and delicious spicy Thai fishcakes (ask for the 'killer dip'), and Thai curry with either chicken or prawns. And they were really good, as were the marinated spare ribs - also good to see that mains can be served with jacket potatoes or rice rather than the ubiquitous chips. And good value for money. Nostalgia seems to be building up a regular clientele - not surprising as Colin makes an excellent host and nothing is too much trouble. And on a freezing cold day the interior is really toasty and warm.

We tried this restaurant because we had heard about the chef and he did not disappoint us. He cooked us Phad Thai, Phad Kaprou and the fish cakes. He was very happy to cook meals not on the menu, and seemed to enjoy the challenge. The food was so good we went back three times :)

Can not recommend this restaurant highly enough.

Gx

Gia, Any restaurant stands or falls on the quality of it's chef, most of the highly recommended restaurants on this board have excellent chefs, Nostalgia being one of them.

so much late night noise !!!!!!!!!!

with regard to the nostalgia/ the Australian bar & O'Haras, i personally found them all a complete pain and nuisance , with very loud music being played until the early hours , sometimes up til 4.45 am !! i did not think this was permitted in P.P???, i stayed at the Eolo hote(another story )l up by the roundabout and heard noise all night for 2 weeks !!! beginning to think i was in Magaluf !!!

Kevessex,
Whenever i have been in Nostalgia after midnight they have taken great care to keep the door closed, i can't speak for the other two as i never use them. Did you complain to anyone about the noise level ?.

I can see exactly where 'Kevessex' is coming from, but there are many differing views.
Although Nostalgia - in particular- gets a lot of 'good press' on this message board from a dedicated set of regular users.
Being part of a clutch of 'non-spanish' type of establishments close to the 'main square', particularly the Irish Bar and the Aussie Bar, they all seem to be exactly the type of places that many dedicated users of this board are often dead against.
e.g. The 'Tex Mex' furore of a year or two ago, or anything somewhat Anglicised or even more brash, like the more recent Sports Bar near the marina.
Then again, many people don't have a kind word to say about Bony's, which is run by an indigenous 'local'.
It takes all kinds.....

I agree with you Favie...certainly not your run of the mill Karaoke bar.....I’ve just returned from a great week in PP with family and friends celebrating my 50th birthday. The big day itself (last Tuesday) was meticulously planned ending with dinner and birthday cake at Stay. Well…..that was the plan until someone decided on the stroke of midnight on Monday that perhaps we should call into Nostalgia for just one drink to welcome in the day. Three mojitos and three hours later we left….! It was a great party with a lovely mix of locals and holiday makers in the bar and Colin somehow manages to cater for all ages. I can also confirm that, as Debz1 says, the mojitos are lethal :D…. Plans for the big day had to be rearranged as I was feeling more than a little delicate.

Sparky, sorry we missed you, but please pass on my thanks to Michaela and Colin for a brilliant night.

The appeal of Nostalgia to me is that it completely lacks the brashness of the Aussie/Irish bars and the Tex Mex places - it isn't in the least tacky and has actually been very tastefully designed. Admittedly I have never been there late at night for the entertainment so can't comment on the noise levels, but I would definitely say that the atmosphere (and decor) for the early evening customers is quite low-key.

I agree Kate, and I have noticed that there is a very large note on the door of Nostalagia which asks that the door be closed after midnight. I have spent several nights in Nostalagia and watched the owners jump up and run to close the door after midnight when a person who cant read has left the door open. On more than one occasion I have found myslef closing the door for them to save them moving from behind the bar. Long rule the KAROAKE KING!! O Haras have lots more people sat outside than inside so the door is open more and the Australian - have not really noticed what goes on down under!!! hahaha

I have been into nostalgia several times over the last few weeks. i have noticed the sign on the door saying that it must be closed after midnight. However it was still open gone 3am and I could hear people belting out songs all the way down the street. Surely not the quiet fishing village that eveyone thinks that PP is. Maybe it is me getting older or times are changing but the summer in this part of town is getting louder and louder every year.

Every town has an area in which the noise level is more than most of us may like, however overall PP in still very quiet in comparision with most "holiday resorts".

I think that is why slightly further out of town areas are becoming more popular to stay in, which enables the best of both worlds; fun laughter and excitement in the centre, and a bit of peace, quiet and reflection further along the coast.
Perfection in other words!;)
