The kids still play footy in the square, my grandson had great fun last May when he visited and i really hope the renovation does not change that.
Of course i will keep the pics coming, i just wish i could fast forward and unveil the finished job, i am actually quite excited about it.:D

Much knocking down, little repairing/replacing !!!

I'd hazard a guess it's going to be open plan again ??

Possibly Nick but it's very early days yet.........it takes a while to break the eggs, beat and cook them before the omelette is ready to eat ;);).

There seems to be an awful lot of 'knocking down' going on - especially with the trees. I just hope they dont spoil the whole character of the square. I loved the fenced in part in the middle where the children played in the shade.I'll reserve judgement till May:(

Ooops!! crossed posts Rosie. :)

Hi Sparky
Do the council post any drawings of the proposed layout for the square in the council building/townhall or on there website assuming they have a website.
Rebel

Hi Rebel welcome to the forum, i have not been able to find any  but i will keep trying.

I agree with Sparky that it will take a bit of time to see exactly what the end result will be. So don't panic yet. They have to remove things and knock things about to replace the pipes etc.

Renovation of the Square

About 10 years ago i was over in PP at exactly this time, they had demolished the half of the Miramar hotel from the beach side, it was not a pretty sight. I remember thinking to myself what a pity. We returned again on the 30th May and the whole structure had been finished. Anybody who visited PP annualy would never have noticed the difference (it had been rebuilt exactly the same, but with bigger rooms).

Have a bit of confidence in these guys, i'm sure it will be finished before the season commences.

Thanks for the updates Sparky...much appreciated. It looks a bit grim but no doubt it will be 'alright on the night'.
Had a bit of a job with the puppy.... is it just me.....it has no chance of a starring role in Mad Dogs if it keeps hiding !

Susie the puppy is just the face ...long droopy ears and a button nose. Think cocker spaniel! Keep looking;)

Sparky, good pictures. Doesn't it open out the square removing the fences. Glad you showed the one with the first length of pipework completed. I noticed the pile of paving slabs ready for laying this morning as well. I am quite impressed with the way they are getting on .

Thanks lollipop, i have to give hubby credit for taking the pics i just do the techy bit of downloading and uploading which totally baffles him ;). I too am impressed with the way they are cracking on with the job.

My goodness they were working fast and furious this morning moving the kerbstones away from the square with at least 4 others cllearing up. They certainly mean business.

.................Probably double time on a Saturday.

Adios

Dave

Just to let you know, i haven't posted any more pics because at the moment they are still just digging trenches and laying new drains in the streets leading off the square but as soon as anything more exciting happens i will let you all know. ;)

has there been any more progress with the work in the square and does anybody know what the finished layout is going to look like ?

ps i'm cathb's husband ;)
