It's so nice to read that some one else loves the "authentic locals atmosphere" to be found at Neptuno.

I have never tried their Pa'amb oli but I will now!!!!!! We have spent many a night working our way along their Tapas counter:cool:

Agreed Robjay, if you like the authentic local atmosphere in Neptunos, try Can Bach by the petrol station in the old town

I agree with Premierbob. Excellent local cuisine at Bar Mallorca CSV.
'If you can get through the cyclists' - who seem to really enjoy the place.
Also very generous portions. Worth it if wet also, as the terrace is under cover,
or you can eat inside - but minus the view. Its handy as there is a large Car Park
adjacent and if walking 'over the top' from Siller / P.P. it is on route to the centre of CSV.

Hi Ray, We "discovered" Can Bach after driving/cycling past so many times and always saying we must stop there. So one day walking between the square, the big Euroski and home we stopped. What a find! loved it and will return.

Pescador, I walked across from PP to CSV on a very very hot August day (not to be recomended) I'd drink 2ltrs of water in my camelbak and had sweated bucket loads :o
As I came down into town I spotted a bar next to a large carpark. I slumpt my sweaty body in the shaded terrace outside watching the ProDriving school set up under a tree.
A friendly waiter asked what I would like to order, I asked for a large beer, he asked if I wanted a laaaaarge beer? I said yes thinking it oddd to ask if it was laaaaarge.
He returned with a 1ltr pot of beer:eek: it took me almost an hour to finnish it and by then it had gone to my head!!!! Sadly I didn't try their Pa'amb oli:(
Pops met me and the lift home was a little more tempting than the scorching hot steep climb back up to the saddle and then back down into PP
I take it this was Bar Mallorca by your description

A little while ago the best Pa amb oli in the town was Hotel/Bar Juma in the sq.
Then 3 yrs ago the family who owned and ran the hotel took a back seat and leased it to Ila D Or chain. They lasted only 1 yr and an Argentinian family ran the Juma last year and in my opinion, the food and service wasnt good and every time I passed or called in itseemed to me, to show.
However I heard at Christmas that the family are back in charge at the Juma and its sister hotel, La Hostel round the corner.
I,for one will look forward to this,it was perfect for snack/lunch,afternoon or pre-dinner drinks. The best spot to watch the town pass by!
Incidentally Club Pollenca, next door is not just for locals, ive found they will offer a welcome too!

So,Pa amb oli and a cold glass Estrella or Mahou,a perfect 1pm snack!

Hi Robjay - certainly sounds like you definately dropped (or should I say Flopped) into Bar Mallorca after your
strength sapping walk 'over the top' to CSV in August.
Only been to P.P. in August once and the temp. reached 43 degrees C on three consecutive days.
Definately not walking weather, not even laying in the sun weather.
Just hiding in a nice cool bar weather, or sleeping under a sun-shade weather.
Anyone remember the large obelisk in Inca showing the time and the temperature. It was right at the side of the
main road from Palma to P.P. (possibly on the roundabout) in the days before the motorway.
Thats where I saw the 43 degrees first!!

I also noticed a change as it used to be a favorite spot after a bike ride,if your a big fan of Pa amb Oli Tomas Graves has written a entire book on the subject called `Bread and Oil`which is a great read,(which my wife found strange!)

You can even BUY it here: Bread and Oil!

Yes its a good read,William, his brother also wrote a book called "wild olives",i think ,about growing up in Deia, thats worth reading too.

Anyway, back to food, lets hope Juma gets back on track its a great spot.
Also, visited nextdoor Numero ocho and found food and service excellent.
Stylish inside and a good outdoor feel if you prefer sitting out especially on warm summer nights. Good prices on snacks and mains.

Whilst we are in the sq dont forget to try La Pasada d Ariyant its always good and not much talked about by us fellow posters. His Pork and Figs are to die for!!

Agree Jonquet, Bar Ocho was great last year, as you say friendly service, spent most late evenings there, better service then some in the square!

I'm amazed

Been lurking around the sight for a good while now. We have our 4th trip booked for June and can't wait. I'm amazed that no one has mentioned the Coral Bar for really high quailty Pa'amb Oli as it is first class.
