Walk to Cala Boquer

Wow..It looks fabulous! I am keen to do this walk...Is it possible to buy a local map for the walk in question or is it sign posted at all?

Thank you very much Sparky. Is there a more detailed map of the actual walk rather than the town itself though or is the route well marked?

You don't really need a map for it Rupert. If you walk down Av. Bochoris as shown on Sparkie's map you cross the main road at a roundabout. On the other side there is a sign IIRC, you then follow a track up hill to a farm house where the track has gates .Go through the gates and then you are in the valley. I think there are some red dots showing the main track to the cala but you can't really get lost anyway. Even if you did you are unlikely to be on your own in their anyway.
We go to Puerto Pollenca in a fortnight. It's our first time staying their but have been to Mallorca many times and always do the Boquer walk.

The swim at the end should be even nicer now, volunteers have this week removed 18 bags of rubbish from the beach, great work guys!

Yes Cumberland8 you can eat jellyfish .........it's an Asian thing .

If you go to any Asian wholesaler, or visit the deli of any high end grocery store, you can usually find it with the sushi. It's normally sold under the name "seaweed salad", and is dyed the bright blue green of algae. It has a very mild, sesame flavor, and since it is composed of the tentacles of the animal, is stringy and a little rubbery. I love the stuff myself.

How long does this walk take, there and back . I think I could do it, but my husband isn`t really a "hiker".
I was under the impression there were café`s etc on the beach at the end, but it seems I am mistaken.

The walk takes around an hour each way depending on how fast you walk, its not really a hike but a steppish descent at the beach end, where there is a lovely quiet beach with no café, think of the island before tourism, beautiful and unspoilt, well worth it believe me.

Depends where you set off from, but an hour each way seem a little quick especially if it is sunny and warm. Don't forget the old water bottle or some other light sustenance. As SWS says, it is a very pleasant walk on a nice day. But don't even dream about a café, you'll have to wait until you're back in P.P. for that.
