Walking to Alcudia old town and Port D'Alcudia

[El Gordo]

...............This 400 year old cannon sits on top of , the last peak to the left as you look straight out from the bay of Puerto Pollensa

This is an excellent walk but not for those who suffer vertigo, as there is a "shepherds pass", a concrete tunnel/hole to crawl through to get around the headland before climbing up Penya Rotja. The rickety wooden fence has now almost disappeared, Which is a good thing as it was unsafe) but you have the chain along the rock wall for support if needed. (via ferrata!!! in Mallorca!!!)

One of our favourite diversions off the walk from La Victoria to the Talia de Alcudia.

It looks worse than it is!!

Excellent photos of the route, you can see the rickety fences and the large chain along the wall, although you don't really need it if you watch where your feet are rather than the view!!

PS the cannon at the top was only recently restored in a nice viewing area, previously was just lying loose in the rocks when these pics were taken.

The photo graphs are really good. I took some photos myself last year when we went walking. I will try to post a couple some time soon. I haven't walked in Alcudia Old town but enjoyed the walk along the seafront when we came out of season a few years ago. Alcudia seems to be much different without the holidaymakers but I suppose that is the case with many places.

This year we walked to Alcudia again, and back also as the weather was so good, it was so nice to walk along the road in the sun with the stunning blue sky.
We walked a different way as when we got to where the road heads inland we walked up the first road and headed to the old town the back way. Glad we did as the road was deserted and skirted around all the fincas full of lovely vegetables, olive trees and prickly pears, there were birds everywhere and it was so peaceful, we passed what must be the best colonnade of palms I have ever seen and the road lead all the way around to the walls of the town by the bull ring.
The old town was also deserted and we had the walls to ourselves which you never do in the summer, we were able to walk most of the way around without having to keep getting out of peoples way.
The street were empty and we had a very long lunch sitting in the sun, we didn't want to leave and had to tear ourselves away.
There are some stunning villas that side and it felt strange looking across to the port instead of the other way around, I chose the one I wanted, looks ok with the outside bar doesn't it.
A great way to spend a day!
