Website update?

Personally (and I’m not at all technical/computer literate) I think that there’s not much wrong with the website as it is. When you Google ‘Puerto Pollensa’ the first hit is puertopollensa.com, so it’s in pole position already, and anyone thinking of visiting PP for the first time is directed to this site. The list of sections in the left hand column is pretty comprehensive, but my criticism is that the information therein is largely out of date (eg taxi rates, bus times are 8 years out of date). Someone needs to go through ALL that and update the whole lot. Whether you put a new/fancy ‘Header’ on the site is of no importance - what people want is accurate and upto date information (and of course, a place to exchange views, etc). Maybe I’m being very simple and missing the whole point, but that’s my opinion … over and out
You have managed to explain exactly my thoughts on this.
I really like the forum but I am aware thrre have been less posts recently, I'm also quite ignorant about the complexities of running a website.
The PP forum seems fine to me except for the outdated information but as I say, I'm no expert.

I really appreciate Sparky's daily input so I would really miss it if things were to change!
Thank you to all who contribute

Thanks everybody.
We've read all of your comments and we know that despite our circumstances we should have kept you updated.

What we have decided to do, is get the forum sorted ASAP rather than wait for the web designers. We've asked the guy who does the software for the forum to get it working and we will launch it without the whole website being finished. He has told us he can merge the forum and the new site together afterwards.

The website itself definitely needs a face-lift as it does look a bit dated now. The software is out of date and the site doesn't work as it should, especially on mobile phones. A lot of the info that's on the site now will be on the new site, but obviously up to date. Plus irrelevant stuff will be removed.

As you say Teacu, our website comes out top in a Google search for Puerto Pollensa, so it needs to show PP for the beautiful place it is. That's why an attractive, visual, informative site is very important.

I'll post again when we hear back from the forum guy.

We have had a response from our forum guy. He said he will work on this for us as a priority and is working over this weekend, which is great news.

For the changes to happen, the forum will need to go offline for a few days. This will probably be from Monday and we're hoping it will only take two or three days max.
We're hoping for a smooth transition and he doesn't anticipate any issues.

I am not sure exactly how things will work after it is updated. It will be a learning experience for us too. It will obviously look different, but he seems to think that things will mostly stay the same regarding usernames, passwords etc. Although there may be instances where people will need to change their passwords.

The ability for new people to apply to join the forum will be working again and this may mean an influx of applications. So we will deal with these as quickly as we possibly can.

If you have any questions then ask away and I'll answer if I can.

I've been in touch with Lyn and she is aware of the plan.

Thanks

Hi, are there still plans to update this website? Information is so out of date and it’s been a while since we have had an update.

Six months ago, when I joined this website, I asked what I thought was a pertinent question.

The answer, as Kingsley will have realised, appears to be no one.
It’s certainly disappointing to get no response at all. It implies that the website, even as it stands, is not being kept an eye on.
It’s a shame
