Agree completely re Formentor

What you actually need os to get one of your party ( usually the old man ) to drive over whilst the rest of you go by boat ..... that way you get the boat trip but also get to stay late and have the drive back ..... don;t forget to stop for a view at the viewing point and walk right up to the tower .... it shouldn't be missed

for absolute seclusion:

Half way to La Victoria, go past Cocodrillo beach until the end where there is a very sharp left turn and you'll see a wee coastal track which skirts the small cliff on the outside of the large villa on the peninsula. Follow this round and sit on the edge of the cliffs to watch all the larger sea going craft coming and going towards Pollensa Bay and Bon Aire. I'm fascinated by the deep blue colour (due to depth) and raw feel of the deep water here (as with La V)

That sounds really nice. We went on a boat trip on our first visit in 1999, from the port. The route was a kind of big circle all around the bay and we started off by heading over to what feels like this area from your description.

I remember seeing teenagers jumping off lower ledges into the sea and there being man made steps built into the cliffs, going into the sea. The scene stuck with me because it just seemed so simple and beautiful and I was curious to know what else was there.

Mearsy, It could have been at CSV where you saw the teenagers jumping as they have the same steps in the rock around by Cala Barques. Many a time I've stood and watched in horror as my children ( and sometimes hubby!)dive and jump off the rocks It's about 20ft high but you are jumping into clear water of about the same depth so it appears much further...not for the faint hearted!!

Indeed it's not for the faint hearted! I could never do it.

My boat trip was from the port and did head off towards the Alcudia direction. It was one of my most vivid memories of my first time in PP. Probably because it was a good hour long trip and I was dying for the loo!

I should make more of an effort to discover CSV though. We did the walk from there back to the port once which was very nice. But apart from that day, that was it.

Unfortunately debs never learned to tell the time, so it will be reset!
Re the trip up to the tower. Had the most awful drive over easter as it was choc-a-block traffic wise; no where to turn round or park; people had parked down the hill in the pull in areas so those coming down were blocked by those blocked coming up; police car just sat there coming down not really knowing what to do either. My daughter and boyfriend got out of the car and walked up to the tower whilst we waited until we got further up, then I got out, found them and then got straight back into the car when hubby appeared over the top and was able to turn round and go back down again!
We then stopped at the beach which was freezing, had a coffee INSIDE then drove back to PP. People who had come by boat were hurry back after a loo stop and a quick walk to get inside. Very bright, but really chilly! Not a good day!
