Some of you may recall me mentioning (a year ago)that due to Caixa Bank charging non eu customers 35 euros per month just to have an account, I decided to cancel my account and use Revolut to pay my bills.

However, I discovered that my attempts to set up direct debits or even just transfer to spanish accounts were thwarted at every turn. It became hugely frustrating, as I literally had to withdraw cash when in the port and pay into my Community funds at a Colonya Branch, as it wouldn't accept a Revolut transfer. I couldn't eben pay my local taxes. Eventually I discovered that Colonya only charged something like 24 euros per 3 months, so decided to open an account and de-stress my life.

However, once opened, I immediately discovered that a Revolut transfer into my new account just wouldn't work.........AAArrgh! However, it was when discussing this with the bank, they suggested delaying the payment, so setting it up for the next day, which I tried........and it worked! Which then made me wonder if I tried delaying the payments to my community administrators, perhaps that might work....and it did!

So now I'm wondering if I actually need my new Bank Account if I can just delay my Revolut payments to pay my bills and taxes etc. Obviously its not a huge sum, so will keep it, but just passing on this miserable experience, so others may learn from it. 😔

Is it just a matter of changing the payment type to 'regular' instead of 'instant' in Revolut, or whatever terms they are using? Instant could be the default and the one the Spanish banks are charging for. Though that might very, depending on the bank.
