This is not unusual, it has happened before. I'm sure that some of the Beds and Brollies will be located on the beaches over the next few weeks and at the latest the end of May / early June. There are usually goodly numbers of B & B's - if not all - in place for the late May Bank Holiday period (Half-Term Holidays). I have seen the latter ones being put out in early June on several previous occasions.
Please see my previous post #6.
All will be well, happy hol's.

p.s. As far as I understand, Daina and Sis Pins units are for their Residents!

The contract has not yet been awarded to anyone !!!!

Why doesn't that surprise me?...

They should really be owned and put up by the council as soon as the wind barriers are removed.
Even in a reduced number to cater for the early visitors.

The running of the day to day operation should then be tendered / contracted out.

I couldn't agree more.
Yet again. Just can't get my head around it.

Is everything in PP left to the last minute?!

Wow, this delay is a serious issue. And the season starts next week !!

Last year we were out in April, great weather, most sunbeds & brollies in place, used them a lot; and for free until just before end Apr.

We’re out in PP in under a fortnight and are hoping to use the sunbeds etc again (chargeable this time).

Maybe this year it will rain all the time we’re there (hope I’m not tempting fate). If it does rain, all ‘problems’ are solved with a triple whammy - won’t need sunbeds, won’t need ice creams from the cabin and rain darkens the new pavements :-)

So much nice and sunny weather, so few beds and brollies (or rather none) ...

Any update on the awarding of the contract?

No and it's such a shame, for the last 3 years everything has been in place in April, we seem to have taken a backward step this year :o.

The guy I spoke to who is part of the beach team from last year described the council as "Unique". Perhaps we should all put the question on the town hall FB page. They are good at responding and it might make a point.

"Unique" hey, well that's one word for them, wouldn't be mine though!!!

I have just received this reply from the UMP :-

Hi Lyn, this afternoon there is an important meeting at City Hall on this subject. Tonight or tomorrow will be news that we hope will be to finally be mounted beaches.

They certainly do respond fast. I'm not really a "Facebooky" typey person, how does one get onto their page may I ask?!

Have had no response from the ajuntament but have just sent another message to the UMP asking how the meeting went, i will report back when i hear from them.

beds & brollies

Today is the 7th day of this summer season and still not a sign of beds & brollies on the beach. Other resorts have them out. So is this just another thing to keep in mind when booking holidays in May? This will be our first outing to PP in May as we normally come in late June for a couple of weeks then mid September to mid October, but with all I am reading on here about the dangerous cyclists and sun beds is coming to PP a good idea. Love the place been coming for 30years but it now appears to be changing, maybe time to look for somewhere else!!

To be honest, I'd be more worried about the weather than if the beds and brollies are out. I'd rather have sun and no beds and brollies than rain when nobody can use the beds and brollies:eek:

Re post #37 - but nobody can control the sun and rain; more of an "act of god".

Beds and brollies are totally controllable; more of an "inaction of the Council".

Wholly unacceptable for early season visitors; (and lost income for the Council).

It's beyond a joke all this nonsense now. I said some time ago that the beach MUST be prepared for when the first tourist arrives. Never mind the weather, when a season starts, who's got the contract nonsense. It's pathetic and that along with the ignorant type of cyclists will start putting off tourists.

No other beach area in Spain is so unprepared for tourists. Add to that the fact that no one even bothers to clean the beaches. Not good.
