I am sure that they will not be so slow in getting the tourist tax implemented like all governing bodies they don't forget to send you your bill or have it collected on there behalf.
just my opinion.:(

The tourist tax has nothing to do with the local council, the Costas, Madrid or this thread!!!.

So why is it that other municipalities have got their beaches all ready for the season start Molt ?.

Also, a council member has admitted that they did not put the tender out in January, which is when it should have been done. The UMP expressed concern on the 15th March about this issue.

Could it be because their contracts don´t last for four years, or do, but are still ongoing ?.

It seems that there is a big possibility that the same people, in other words, the Asociación de Vecinos, will be given the contract again.

Hope they can do something with the weather as well !.

The last contract was for three years, the contract before that was for one year but the council said if the Asociacion de Vecinos did a good job it would be extended for a further three, they have done a great job and i will be pleased if they get the contract again.

I don't know about other municipalities but Pollenca does have a bad track record for issuing beach tenders in a timely fashion.

According to the link I posted they have asked for the contract to be inbetween 2016 and 2019.

Whether this means "up to" is beyond me.

It seems that Pollensa submitted for tender at the same time as all the others, as the document was released on the 2nd of Febuary, which means that it must have been applied for during January or even before.

After studying the document, it is clear that nearly all the applications have been made by companies or private people, which means that it probably takes less time for them to be notified and the question resolved.

In Pollensa´s case. it´s the Town Hall who has applied, and then, after it has been notified that it´s application has been succesful, it then put´s it out to tender unless it wants to do it itself.

Maybe this is where the time lapse is.

That just doesn't make any sense to me, why is Pollensa the only municipality that make the application when in others any individual or company can do it?. Is there some kind of conspiracy against Pollensa?.

There are also four in Menorca and two in Ibiza, and this is only for the ones that have to be renewed.

Does the council 'own' the 'beach' as it is man made? they must have paid for it in the first place, perhaps as owners they have to apply for the license themselves, just a thought!

Sorry if I made the wrong assumption on the matter of tax better give the site a miss for a while. We were coming to the meeting on the 17th also give it a miss
ttfn:(

Costas i.e. the Spanish central government, "own" this beach and any other land on the entire Spanish coast up to the high tide water mark, and, in some places, up to where the sea spray reaches.

A crazy situation .

Quite possibly so, but it also means the council have full control over who gets the contract and can remove them if they are not up to the job.

The alternative seems to leave this decision in the hands of the central government or the Costas delegate in the Balearics.

But the beach wasn't there was it, it was just rocks, so do the Costas still own this new bit of land that was brought in so to speak?

Thats useful , thanks, I think the term 'All areas reclaimed from the sea' would cover this circumstance then, so it cant be that then why the council has to apply

Puerto Pollensa beaches: now the restaurants are complaining » Balearics » News » Majorca Daily Bulletin

...
Now it is the local restaurants association which is having its say, expressing outrage at the fact that the resort seems to be the only one where the beaches are not yet ready for tourists.

The association says that it met with town hall representatives in early March and called for the beaches to be ready for Easter. "Now, we are almost in the middle of May and still there has been no tender. How many months will pass before there are services on the beach?"

...

The association concludes, ironically, by observing that the town hall is meanwhile concerned that some establishments should have less terrace space.

I must admit we would be very upset if we had booked for now and the bedsnbrollies werent out !

We love PP for lots of reasons but high on the list is the beach We go every day and pay for them as part of the holiday for us Not particuarly keen on pools do never look for this when booking so would be a pain if they werent available

Hoping they will have them out by Mid June !
