They were working late again tonight putting out beds at Tamarells end ready for the morning, you could almost hear PP giving a sigh of relief ;).

I think these guys need a pat on the back for a job well done in limited time.

Yes they deserve our gratitude, they have put in some very long days and have done the job so efficiently. I hope they get paid a bonus to help make up for the wages they have lost since 1st May ;).

Amazing job in such a short time Looking forward to lying on mine in a few weeks time !

Beds on the beach just up from Bahia

Beds on the beach...but all piled up and chained so no one can use them

We were impressed when the guys started at Tamarells and seemed to be ploughing ahead along the entire beach. But they seem to have come to a grinding halt! I suppose we were expecting too much that they would have worked yesterday, but today little if anything has happened. So apart from Tamarells you have a mixture of poles, poles with shades and piles of beds stacked along south sandy beach and Pine Walk.

I know I'm banging on about this but IMO I'm not sure why there should be any praise. Once the tender had been decided they should have been working flat out (paying them all overtime) to get the job done..not just a half hearted attempt at it

Hope there arent going to be any more problems !

I was only going on what I could see on the webcam So that gives me a good view of Tamerells only Not actually the fault of the company but the Council taking so long to decide We will be going a bit further up hopefully past the Sea Bar Any one charged for beds today ?

They must be losing a fortune by not working overnight to put everything up and being able to charge the following day surely! Project manager required!!

I think this needs to be put into perspective, many of the beds were unused today so IMO there is no great rush to fill all the beach straight away. As an aside, I spotted a JCB leaving the beach tonight at 21.15 so it's not for the want of trying.

When I walked by this afternoon most of the beds were being used..and if you are staying on Pine Walk I would imagine you wouldn't want the hassle of walking all the way down to Tamarels  Just my opinion obviously but I have spoken to a lot of people and they are all very fed up.

I have just been told that they are working during tonight, this is from Sea.Bar.Is up towards La Gola ;).

Oh dear!!! this might explain why work stopped. Below is a not very good translation from the UH, read the original story here :-
La Asociación de Vecinos del Port de Pollença monta las playas sin autorización » Part Forana » Noticias » Ultima Hora Mallorca.

The Association of Residents of Port de Pollença mounted beaches without authorization.

The Association of Residents of Port de Pollença has mounted this weekend hammocks and parasols beaches Moll and Cala San Vincente without proper authorization town since has not yet been formally settled the contest exploitation.

And they follow the model of the Formentor beach , where the hotel set up at their own risk in weeks facilities risking a penalty of Costas.

Mayor Miquel Àngel March confirmed Monday that he has given neither can give authorization to provide the service and much less to charge for sunbeds or shade until it has been awarded the tender of exploitation and signed the corresponding contract. However it issued a statement which boasts the "normalization" of the situation of the Port after installation of the beaches and the installation of street furniture in the ride. "We can not give permission to ride. We did not think anything good or bad , I can say that given the lateness of the season and the public interest of the service are not going to intervene," said the mayor. The deadline for bids to contest exploitation beaches ended last week and presented a single bid per batch, the hotel Formentor Formentor to the beach and the neighborhood association for beaches Moll and Cala. However the legal procedure has not yet been resolved failing to open the last envelope and check that tenders comply with all the requirements.

Tots criticized the "lack of consensus" on the issue. In the same sense it manifests Alternative demanding responsibilities for the delay and errors in the tender.

Does that mean the beds are currently free to use?

Well when the next election takes place I hope all expats entitled to vote do just that.

Apparently they are charging 13€ for 2 beds and a brolly. Also the mayor has said that although this has not officially been authorised no action will be taken against them.

Up from 11 Euro in 2014 and 12.50 Euro last year
(As per the 'Beds and brollies 2015'-thread)

Lots of official inaction this year in PP.

I was just waiting for * Its been decided therefore they will have to be removed again * !!

You would have thought that after all the dreadful publicity they would have been right behind the quick setting up of the beach facilities
