Can anyone remember our 1980s favorite Petit Paris ?

Also, like Kate says Pollenc in the days of Natalie and Pierre at the Can Costa,they also had Bristol Bar.
And Daus was another world!

Lunches at Sis Pins when they first broke away from just B and B.About 1989-1992?
IL Gardino was a bank in those days.

La Fortalesa (of a few years ago when it was run by Martin & Pauline).

Tango in its central location (new location ok, but just not the same).

Louis (a superb and friendly waiter, now having a well-earned retirement) who was part of the Tango experience.

Oliveras & Los Pescadoras were the first that occured to me but I'd also include Can Andreu and the Sis Pins (back in the globespan days).

Along similar lines I received this email recently & suggested that the sender posted here but he hasn't yet, so maybe someone can help:

"hi we are going back to puerto pollensa after 30 years , we used a bar i called martins bar , do you think it was called neptuno , martin was a short guy & A VERY NICE FAMILY we got to know very well we have photos we are taking back with us & was hopeing to reunite with them, do you know if they are still living in pollensa , after they retired, thats if it is the same martin"

I'll pass on any ideas.

Pollensa the fact that the enquirer said "Bar" made me think it must have been the original Neptuno, i know there is a Martin in Can Ferrer but that is a restaurant, maybe you could ask the person if the place they mean is in C/Formentor.

We used to love Petit Paris too. And you're right Daus was another world. Jonquet, I'm sure you already know but the owner of Daus now has the excellent Restaurant Siller and Katalina is still the chef.

Debz, my step-children often talk about Tropicana & the fantastic afternoons that they had there. Very much missed in our family but wonderful memories!

Max's bar is called Max's Cafe and is where Mousetrap and Caramba were situated.

Thanks for that info Debz1 I didnt know that,as I get older now I find it hard to drag myself out of the town of an evening!
Our first visit to PP was nearly 25 yrs ago,stayed Hostal Galeon when it was 1* hostal,not everyones taste but suited us.Beach was about 3 meters wide,nice an quiet and Rest Llenaire with Pepe was perfect!
I read a sunday paper review of old town,visited it to look for La font de Gall,found Can Costa first and ate there.Never looked back..3,4 or 5 visits to town/PP ever since,every year.

At the risk of showing my age for me it has to be Montenegos in the late 80s and early 90s when you were likely to be sat next to Jon Pertwee and his wife who, I understand, wrote and published cookery books back then. All this for 700 pts. Three courses inc wine ahhhh

Enjoyed reading this thread. My wife and I have been going to PP long enough to remember some of the places getting a mention on here! Certainly had some good times in El Pozo, Daus (with Christine after Manolo), Font del Gall (also with Christine), C'an Pep (last time I looked this location had a model elephant parked outside it), Los Pescadores, El Faro, the old Neptuno and the old Tango.

Love the reference to the old Tots as well. When they were young we used to take the children (2 boys) there for an early supper at about 5.30. The boys would eat and my wife and I would eat later either in our apartment or out in the port with a babysitter on duty. So at Tots we would have a late afternoon drink as the boys enjoyed their feast. Tots spirit measures were of industrial strength and although this was almost 20 years ago I am pretty certain that the alcohol from their gin and tonics has still not left my system.

Ah!! well done i've got it now Debz, when it became an Indian it was called "A Taste of India" or something similar .
