Hobby Club

If you imagine a square with the top side missing, the works are being carried out underneath this square. The open end of the square faces the sea, with the pool in the middle of the square. So a pool view should get you away from the disruption. But I have to say again that I don't think that there is a great deal of noise, it's a bit unsightly where the work is being done, but I don't think any of the windows face towards the work anyway, just some of the apartment front doors.
You are going to have a great time.
When are you there? I will be at my apartment just down the road during some of August, we could pop into my favorite local, Restaurant Llenaire and sit out under a spreading tree, look out to sea and have a Gin and Tonic together.:D

Finding this discusssion forum has been very intersting and we are very grateful for the very useful info. Despite the building works we know we will have a good time! see you there!!;)

It was good to read you had a good holiday last year at the Hobby Club appartments, we are all hoping that the building works do not affect us too much. The photos did look bad, a lot closer to the apartments than we thought. are you flying from Luton airport, if so which date. our 15 year old girls were wondering if you had any teenagers in your group?! were there any bad things about pollensa or the Hobby Club apts last year? We are going with a couple of so called friends who are feeling a bit pesimistic about the holiday and even thinking of wearing hard hats instead of sun hats!! so you will soon recognise them! ;)

Re: hobby club

Hi dizzy Dawn
We are travelling out to PP on the 29th of july for 2 weeks, from manchester with our 2 girls Charlotte and Sophie, sorry to disapoint your girls because the girls are just 3 and almost 8.
Please tell your friends to be optomistic because even the nearest rooms to the building work which we stayed in last year do not have windows or balconies that over look the site. We found the apartments to be in a ideal location for us,
We had great time last year,so can`t wait to get back.
see you there LOL and family.

Re: Hobby Club and Building Work

Dear all

I've just returned to work after flying back from the Hobby Club on Saturday (5th July). I must say they are the nicest apartments with the friendliest staff I've ever stayed in. Our apartrment (No.211) faced the pool and the beach beyond. It backed on to the building work but really the disturbance was minimal and It shouldn't spoil anyone's enjoyment. The only disadvantage of the apartments when you have little ones is the walk to the main are of the port(about 1.5KMs - I think that's 1 mile - ish). We ate in the square and on the pine walk several times but it was difficult some nights to persuade the kids to go beyond La Maina (not sure if that is spelt correctly, but it is on the corner of the road that leads up to the Pollensa Park) and Tolos. However both of these are nice, especially round the back of La Maina and upstairs overlooking the bay at Tolos. Puerto Pollensa is a lovely resort - but not only a "resort" like Cala d'or or Callas de Mallorca - it's a real town too. We hired a car via the Club reception "Hiper" - they come and pick you up and all their vehicles are new. Also if you want to go independently to Aqua City speak to the ladies on reception - we got tickets their and the kids went free. Oh well, back to work - I'm in such a bad mood being back here!

Re: Hobby Club and Building Work

I've been to the Hobby club for the past 3 years but unfortunately I'm not going back this year. In the 3 years i have been there the builders have done as much as what builders over here would do in 2 or 3 weeks. I wouldn't say they would be working a lot when your there but I might be wrong. The people are really friendly and the apartments themselves are spotless but that could go for the whole of Puerto Pollensa aswell. You will thoroughly enjoy it. There are plenty eating places in the square, on the Pine walk and there are a couple of good ones you should try beside Pollensa Park hotel. Anyway, enjoy your holiday.

Re: Hobby Club and Building Work

Going to Hobbyclub 26 July really looking forward to it. Any advice on good eating places. How far away is the water park and what is it like? Is there a supermarket near the apartments? Dizzy Dawn see you there!! Thanks everyone for your all your help and information8)

Re: Hobby Club

There is a water park in Alcudia which is pretty good but if you want to go to a bigger one there is one in Palma Nova I think which is called Aqua City. You can organise day trips to Aqua City form the Hobby Club but be warned Aqua City is very big and if you have little kids it may not be a good idea. It has a lot of slides but the queues are sometimes very long but it is a really good water park. As for restaurants there are good ones in the square and in the little side streets around the square but there are also some good ones up beside Pollensa Park and around that area. Hope this helps.

Re: Hobby Club

HUBBLEBUBBLE ,were going out on the 29th/july to the hobby club , after having a great holiday there last year .There is a mini/market attached to the hobby club , and just around the corner by the pollensa park hotel is a SPAR shop.
see you there Lol and family.

Banks in Pollensa

Can anyone please tell me which banks can be found in Pollensa. And do they accept Switch debit cards. I know you can use it where banks accept Maestro/Cirrus. I am just thinking of bringing it along with the Euro exchange rate being as low as it is.
:D

banks in Pollenca

There are many banks in the Port, but I don't think I've ever seen a British High Street Bank anywhere but in Palma.
All the local banks have ATM machines outside and as long as you know your PIN number you can use them to draw funds from your home bank account. Also you can draw funds from your Credit card, but again you need to know your PIN
As long as your Debit Card is a VISA (except Electron, I think), again you should be able to use this in shops and restaurants.

Hobby club

Building work still in progress - only creates some dust if windy and generator noise sometimes during the day - no apartments face the building work. so it isnt a problem

Apartments clean and pleasant, facilities fine, clientele exclusively British ( not necessarily an asset) and some seemed to moan excessively - why no toasters, a long walk to town...??

PP is fantastic, unspoilt and - not Blackpool (Alcudia) - long may it remain so! - looking forward to our 7th visit next year
