debz1,

A little guy, about 5-6, slimmish, dark curly hair combed back and wearing black rimmed glasses. Just looked like a bad copy of Mr. Roy Orbison (yes-iam a fan). Never cracked a smile yet!

However, the real Martin is one of life's gentlemen, and Pauline is a delight to talk to.

And,,, the food is great!

The young waiter, shaven head - maybe a son, was also very friendly and an accomplished in all the arts of making one feel valued.

Regards

La Fontalesa

Best food in Puerto Pollensa in pleasant surroundings and extremely welcoming hosts - Martin and Pauline. All the Mallorcan dishes are excellent - what I am saying everything on the menu is delicious and freshly prepared for you. Looking forward to returning in September.

Sorry but the one and only time i visited this place i was served Lomo con Col that was frozen, and i do mean frozen it was solid ice in the middle. Pauline the hostess had an equally icy attitude when i dared to complain.
In 26 years of holidays in PP this is the only time and place i have had a BAD EXPERIENCE.:eek:

All, this is our first posting on the forum! We have to say that we love La Fortalesa and have been going there for years, both with and without the kids and we have never had to book. Martin and Pauline are always very welcoming. The food is great, typically Mallorquin but definitely not the place to go if you are looking for burgers or fish and chips! Try the Tumbet and the Lomo con Coll. Cheers

I have been in a number of times and enjoyed most of the food, with the rabbit and chiperones both excellent. We even took our Mallorcan friends who enjoyed it. However I too had frozen Lomo Con Col and a frosty reception :p when I pointed it out. Sadly we haven't been back since.

Sounds like Pauline has a problem with criticism even when it is justified. Had it not been for her icy reaction i would have given the place a second chance (after all anywhere can have an off night) but i would rather spend my money where i know they care about their customers, she obviously doesn't.

Our friends swear by it - it is one of their fav 4/5 restaurants (I hope we may have added O Lume to their top list) but I have never tried it - didn't someone say it might be closing or did I imagine that?

Last night I recieved a text from a certain special lady telling me what a fantastic meal her and her family had just had, she said "Tengo Un Amor" have I mis-spelt it? lol.
My middle daughter was out there a few weeks ago with some of her friends and as always she raves about how out of this world the food is and how much they really enjoyed the company of their hosts now her friends are doing the same!
Me? I can't wait to take that special lady back there next week. From the first night I ate there it was tengo un amor. since then it has always been one of my most favorite places in PP.

Stay safe

Rabbit Rabbit Rabbit

Lost me there Boaby:confused:

I'm packing and started thinking about LF.
My middle daughter was raving to me again about their thumper and onion (we both love it) I can't wait until I can hop in there to feast on some watershipdown extra washed down with Pauline's Sangria.

The only thing frosty I have every had is my beer glass! We always receive the warmest of welcomes and both Martin & Pauline always ask after the children. I have gone there for years and have always found them a warm polite couple.

This is one restaurant we will definatly visiting this year. Allways had good meals and very friendly service.

I was quite concerned when I heard it was closing this year.

Two weeks and we will be there can't wait, everyone says that don't they?
Staying near the Pollensa Park Hotel so I think I will probably be at El Ancla
2 weeks today for some light refreshments

Have walked past La Fortalesa for years & years and never been able to convince my better half to to give it a try!! This year we were there late in July when it was just so hot she wanted somewhere with air con. We had not booked but as there were only the two of us it was not a problem. We absolutetly loved it! I love the Majorcan food and had Chiparonies followed by Rabbit - fantastic if you don't mind using your fingers! Martin did ask me beforehand, if I'd eaten rabbit previously. My wife had the Gazpacho followed by the Spag Bol (she is not as adventurous me!) She said the spaghetti was so good she would have quite happily eaten it without the sauce. Very reasonable as well!
We enjoyed the whole meal so much we went back a couple of nights later which slightly messed up the plan to eat at a different place each night, but it was well worth it!
With definitely be on the list for next year.
