Sparky, please send Mr Sparky out again as the concrete on the outer circle of the compass has gone in and is being possibly coloured. Also there are some new seats being arranged in little social groups or if you fall out with your partner you can have individual seat!!!. Sorry didn't have a camera with me or I would have taken piccies.

Lollipop, we will be going for a walk soon so will make sure to take the camera.;)

Great photos Sparky. I take it all the caging will be taken down before the market returns on Wednesday?
And when is the election Sparky? But looking good now, isn't it.

Thanks Kenpool, i am sure the cages will be gone by the time the market returns. The elections are to be held on Sunday 22nd May.

Do we really like P.P. so much.....
YES..... the excellent photo's really do make one feel 'homesick'.
The 'square' will definately be finished soon.

Looking good Sparky, they are cracking on now, love the seats like that

Excellent move re the benches/chairs. So wacky and different and far removed from boring seating placed around the perimeter of an area.

There is seating like this on the sea front at C'an Picafort. Well done to the planners.

New seating areas

Love the little seating areas - particularly the one under the shade of the tree outside the Cultural/Makasar. Hubby suggested we take our own picnic table and put it in the middle, get a take away and drink our own gin and tonics/beers for a cheap evening out!!!:D Typical of him!!;)
Great photos Sparky - thanks for keeping us updated.

It is a very clever move by the council/planners to put those groups of seats where they have......because it will prevent some of the restaurants from sneakily taking over the space with extra tables. ;)

All of a sudden its starting to really come together. I cant wait to see it in 2 weeks time.
:D@ car77

I passed a family group in the square yesterday who were obviously looking to see the changes. They pointed out the increased size of the area and commented that it was better.

Should be a bit more space on market day which will be great, love the idea of a picnic car77 :)

When our local council in the UK introduced similar little grouped-together seating areas in the park they were immediately swamped by local teenagers wielding bottles of vodka, and rough sleepers, necessitating nightly police patrols... Can't think the same thing will happen in PP, but there have been some problems in the recent past in other public areas. They do look inviting, though. Have to say judging by the photos that have been posted I am not sure about the lighting. Looks like it would be more suitable to a football stadium, but I have not seen it in person and I'm sure it is more subtle at close quarters.

I think we concluded the lights were temporary until the new ones arrived!

Sorry, I hadn't realised that was definite - looks like a lot to spend on temporary lights, unless of course they can use them elsewhere afterwards. I do like the fact that they have opened the square up much more - always felt it was a bit like a prison exercise yard before with all that fencing. Hopefully all the work that has been done on drainage will also eradicate the cockroaches, which apparently had been a problem in the past for some restaurant owners... not in the actual restaurants, I hasten to add, but spotted frequently in the street outside.

Sparky, I thought maybe Bonyslad was referring to the the missing lights around the outer edge of the square as they don't seem to have tops on yet unless they have been put on today.
